Jesus offers His saving Grace to all; it is up to us to accept Him, so in a way we are kinda saying the same thing here.

All catechized Catholics understand that one must accept God. But not in the hokey showman way of such abhorrent practices as the altar call. It is the quiet acceptance in one’s heart of Jesus into the contrite heart and the fervent prayer that God will save me, a sinner. It is not a one time event; it is a process in one must persevere for their entire life.

How would my padre know if I am saved? That is for Jesus the Judge, and not any man.
