A California businessman sued the Rev. Creflo Dollar, his son Jeremy Dollar and his businesses Wednesday, saying the high-profile preacher misappropriated a business idea they developed together to text devotional messages to followers for $4.99 a month.
Dollar and his son reneged on the deal, took the businessmans trade secrets and started the Word on the Go texting service in 2006, the suit by Devone Lawson of Marina del Rey claims. They are making $50 million a year through subscriptions, Lawson claims.
James Evangelista, Lawsons Atlanta attorney from the Page Perry law firm, said Dollar also bumped up the price to $5.99 a month.
The word from the preacher aint cheap, Evangelista said.
Dollar could not be reached when a reporter called his World Changers Church International in College Park.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles County, claims breach of agreements and contract, fraud, misrepresentation, interference and misappropriation of trade secrets.
Apparently, the Rev. Dollar and the Dollar Ministries do not practice what they preach, unless the prosperity gospel they preach justifies fraud and theft in the attainment of material wealth, Evangelista said.
Dollar, who claims 30,000 congregants in Atlanta, has a second church in New York City and an international TV ministry.
He preaches a controversial message that says God rewards faith with physical health, material blessings and success.
The love of money is the root of ALL Evil.

Chapter 11.
Concerning Teachers, Apostles, and Prophets.
Whosoever, therefore, comes and teaches you all
these things that have been said before, receive him.
But if the teacher himself turns and teaches another
doctrine to the destruction of this, hear him not.
But if he teaches so as to increase righteousness and
the knowledge of the Lord, receive him as the Lord.
But concerning the apostles and prophets, act according
to the decree of the Gospel.
Let every apostle who comes to you be received as the Lord.
But he shall not remain more than one day; or two days,
if there’s a need.
But if he remains three days, he is a false prophet.
And when the apostle goes away, let him take nothing
but bread until he lodges.
If he asks for money, he is a false prophet.
I was just waiting on someone else to post first. I have never liked Creflo Dollar. He seems to me to be a con-man.
As is most of the “preachers” on TBN. Prosperity Gospels ALL!
Creflo DOLLAR looking to cxash in on inspirational text messages. They should play that song by the Bulletboys when they introduce Creflo Dollar at speaking events, “Money, money, money, money... MONEY... Almighty Dollar!!! Got to have it!!! Money, money, money money.... Money!!!!
$ is a great name for a TV preacher, ain’t it?
If you like Creflo then you’d LOVE Benny Hinn!
But Cashflow $ looks like such a nice, handsome boy!
Yeah, I’ve heard of Benny Hill...er, Benny Hinn before.
I remember when the Prayer of Jabez got popular. One of my uncles got all into it. I was like, are you serious? I know better than that. I’m not the best Christian in the world, nor even close to it, but I do know what my spirituality and the Bible truly entails.
I mean... you cant really trust a guy whose name is “Dollar”... and who claims that you make a covenant with god, by sending him cash!
“Freely you have received, freely give”, Jesus told us in His Word. He put His holy ‘foot down’ in the temple, driving out the money changers and throwing over their tables one day to drive the message home: “You will not make My Father’s House a house of merchandise!” Such activity is grievous to the Holy Spirit of God and makes God livid, as mankind decides to place a “tax” of sorts on not just the preaching of His Word but also on any information that the Lord has seen to impart on a man or woman of God seeking God’s direction—and then that person writes a book or makes an audio or video series-—for the thousands of life issues each one of us faces. I strongly believe that if the Lord sees that a ministry or person is doing His will, he will make sure that they are supported monetarily by prompting people to give of their own free will; men and women of God who demand money in return for their books, tapes, CDs, DVDs, “campmeetings”, seminars and so-on are in effect forcing people to pay in order to receive what the Lord has freely given that ministry to give to others. I can guarantee you though, if you are seeking the Lord and truly want to know what His will is for your life, He will let you know and maybe even send an “angel unaware” to tell you! And here’s another guarantee—you won’t have to pay a dime for it! Praise the Lord! Mighty is He! The Lion of the tribe of Judah!
