I was sent an e-mail that made this quote :

12% of the 300 Protestant clergy surveyed admitted to sexual intercourse with a parishioner; 38% acknowledged other inappropriate sexual contact in a study by the United Methodist Church , 41.8% of clergy women reported unwanted sexual behavior; 17% of laywomen have been sexually harassed.

Meanwhile, 1.7% of the Catholic clergy has been found guilty of pedophilia. 10% of the Protestant ministers have been found guilty of pedophilia. This is not a Catholic Problem.

‘10% of the Protestant ministers have been found guilty of pedophilia.’

Source?

There is also a difference between pedophiles and homosexual predators. If the victim is either gender and pre-puberty - the perp is a pedophile.

If the victim is male who reached puberty or older and the perp is male - the perp is a homosexual predator. The left calls them pedophiles to hide that these perps are homosexuals.

The pastor or is rare cases a priest having sex with somebody’s wife is just a piece of trash horndog. I think in Protestant clergy - this is the most common.

I think in the Catholic Church it is homosexual predators. Actual pedophila with young children, thank God, is probably the rarest example.

All of the “Protestant” men doing such things should be considered unbelievers. The Catholics, OTOH, claim that they are “other Christs” here on earth. What do we make of men that a big Roman organization pronounces “alter Christus” upon when they are actually “predatory gay men”?

Quit making excuses.

And this answers the unholy critics of the Catholic church exactly how?

Its clear the media is ginning up this scandal to further weaken the catholic church's moral authority.

But is pointing a finger at protestants really the best way to deal with it?

RE: you altered headline...

(Pedophilia occurs more frequently in Protestant Churches)

I searched the article you posted. No where does it make this claim.

Oh. But it must be true. Because “I was sent an e-mail that made this quote”.

I suggest the mods clean up your false headline and I suggest you back up your claims a little more carefully next time.

Well, pedophilia happens everywhere. Is it worse in faith based groups over the general public, I do not know.
But Catholics cannot (should not) start saying “well yea its bad here but those Protestants are worse”.
It should not be anywhere - period.

The "Everybody else does it" excuse is right up there with the "psychologists told us to do it" excuse among Kool Aid drinking Catholics, who slavishly defend corrupt bishops in the face of hard evidence. Perversion is everywhere, but the coverups and hush money were borderline criminal.

The semi-deification of the papacy and the clergy amongst some Catholics has always been nauseating, but even worse in the face of criminal behavior.

Truly the weight of these accusations negates the need to be prudent in ascertaining the validity of the claim or the source! All men are suspect of being abusers and therefore must be looked on with suspicion and derision. In fact any person who allows a man to be alone with a child should be guilty of child abuse, particularly if the man is unmarried.

“10% of the Protestant ministers have been found guilty of pedophilia.”

I do not for one moment believe that ANY group, except maybe NAMBLA, has a 10% pedophilia rate!!

“Is it worse in faith based groups over the general public, I do not know.”

From the statistics I have read, the group with the highest rate of pedo activity is public schools!

I doubt they get anywhere near 10% either!

Posters may put their own interpretation of the article in brackets behind the actual title of the article.

Yes, I think the Roman Catholics and the Protestants may want to be more proactive in pointing out that pedophilia is sanctioned, endorsed, and openly practiced in Islam.

Rather than discouraged and weeded out.

Where is the outrage?

Did you read this paragraph ?

“In his book Pedophiles and Priests, Prof. Philip Jenkins—a Protestant and an expert in the subject of pedophilia—stated, “The most-quoted survey of sexual problems among Protestant clergy states that some ten percent are involved in sexual misconduct of some kind, and that ‘about two or three percent’ are pedophiles, a rate equal or higher than that suggested for Catholic priests.”

Not saying that the accusations are accurate, I am just quoting what the article claims.

Dear Moderator,

In my particular case ( as the originator of the article ), I am simply quoting from one paragraph in the article. Not saying that I agree with it. Just putting it in theheading for discussion purposes. I don’t mind if people REFUTE the allegations at all.

Thanks

Everyone wants to make a HUGE issue of the occasional error/failure by certain individuals. Mohammed? Had more than his share of little boys and little girls. Their religion codifies and endorses it!!!

Where are the children’s rights? What about the damage and the warped realities they had to live.... and then perpetuate as adults?

Where are the rights freedoms and liberties there????
