Very good question. I think the answer is that: as countries break up, many groups jockey mercilessly for power. I believe that is what we see here. Those who would in secure times coexist, turn on each other hoping to delay their demise.
Some people here on FR are threatened more by good neighbors with good fences than they are a government infringing on their rights. It wouldn’t matter what religion you espoused someone here would be offended by your personal beliefs and flame it openly. It is a shame that people have nothing better to do with their food stamps or unemployment than to belittle another persons beliefs.
We have some sick, deranged OCD types who see it their God-given duty to harass one particular religion (instead of, say, simply evangelizing generally).
Oh, they will say “We are against Mormonism, not Mormons.” But, see the title of this thread. That defense just got shot to hell. Idiots.

...they're the "only true & living church on the face of the whole earth" (Doctrine & Covenants 1:30)...
...in their Book of Mormon that all other churches fall under the umbrella of Satan (1 Nephi 14:9-10)?
...in Smith's first vision that every single creed of the Christian sects didn't honor God and was an "abomination" to the Mormon god? (How is that not "bashing" every Christian creed out there -- including all of your Lutheran Christian creeds, 2ndDivisionVet?)
...in Smith's first vision that all Christian professors are "corrupt." (How is that not bashing all Christian professors of their faith?)
...in their doctrine all Christian denominations are "apostate" (How is that not bashing all Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox and each member therein?)
What kind of "allies" spread it around the world that God considers us all to be apostates, all to be corrupt, all to be heart-drifters, all to be a false and dead church bodies, all to be Satan's church, and to have 100 putrid creeds in God's eyes? That's outright slander!
