There has been research...I believe from Barna...that points to more Christians moving away from the “organized church” and into more small faith communities such as House Churches for some of the same reasons you have mentioned. If I recall the numbers correctly, the majority of Christians in this country will not be attending “organized church” with in a generation. We just might be “going underground”.

I’ve not seen any “House Churches” per say. Though I attended a gathering under a disgruntled Pastor. Challenged his teaching as well once I realized he was seeking the adoration of his followers. I hate that sort of manipulation of sincere believers. So that would not be what I might consider a “House Church”...more like a cult start.

I do believe if this does begin in our generation that God’s Spirit will arrange true believers to know one another clearly and for that come together. There are so many false believers today....people will say they are Christian even if not. But there does seem to be sense one gets when meeting another Christian...as they speak and share, the evidence at least opens up to inquire.
