Lachanophobia- Fear of vegetables.

My mother has started putting that on her medical histories to see if the doctor actually reads it.

I go through phases, I like vegetables in stew, on a hamburger, with leg of lamb, and an occasional salad but we moved to meat country and can have our own cows butchered so I am loving it. And veggies grown in your own garden are much more tolerable.

Do you acknowledge that a Mormon can be as well informed about Mormonism as you are and honest about his or her beliefs, and yet still disagree with you?

- - - - -
If I ever meet one, I will let you know.

And again, it depends upon what we are disagreeing about. Give me an example.

And when “you” speak an outright lie, someone WILL be offended.

- - - - -
And I have never lied about the Gospel, my faith, what I believe as a Christian, Christian History, or Mormonism for that matter.

What do you seem to think I am lying about, if anything?

Why aren’t you talking about Mormons?

Because I'm really not all that hung up about Mormons, to be quite honest. What they say, do, and believe, has very little effect on me or my daily life.

The people who do concern me, are the those who purport to represent "true" Christianity, and yet who, by their words and deeds, end up doing more harm than good to the Body of Christ.

Lachanophobia- Fear of vegetables.

All this time I thought people were saying that I was afraid of wolves. ;^)

My mother has started putting that on her medical histories to see if the doctor actually reads it.

A very wise trick. My mother asked her doctor if he was for socialized medicine. He was. She hasn't been back since.

But what I hate is when the LDS say “we don’t believe that” or ‘we never taught that’ or ‘the Articles of Faith are ALL our beliefs’ when we all know that isn’t true and it can be documented, but they either don’t know or are lying to protect ‘the Church’.

Really what do you think - meek, shy, retiring, get along-ism or bold, forceful, righteous anger......what really how should they behave in your world view.

Any or all, as the situation requires -- but always with the humility that should come from the fact that we're entrusted with carrying God's message. Humility means, in part, that we are not to place ourselves between God and His message.

We've all seen what happens when clergy become so puffed up with the power of their own positions that they lead themselves and others astray.

Remember what happened to Moses when he inserted himself between God and His message.

Ahh, but R lds claiming to be christians does great harm to the Body of Christ, so which is it? You don’t care about lds but care about harm to the Body of Christ? You can’t have it both ways.

Hmmmm....that's a good question. I went to the scriptures and turned to the passage below. I think this passage speaks to this issue and I stand corrected:

While Paul was away from believers, he states that he writes very bold. And, since we are commanded to imitate Paul even as Paul imitates Christ, can we expect to do differently? It appears that we should be very zealous in our writings. However, at our next Religious Forum get-together we should exhibit a little more restraint. ;O)

or the message of those “nice young men in suits on bicycles”

- - - -
Actually the message of those ‘nice young men’ is very very comfortable and appealing to those who do not know Christ.

The Gospel of Christ is uncomfortable to those same people.

I suspect you misrepresent what Mother Angela actually said, or at least meant. I doubt she was suggesting that it is impossible for humans to understand Scripture until they die; rather, I think you and she probably agree on such matters as the use of the gifts of God to discern the meaning of Scripture; even if not fully, at least with increased understanding over time.

I am not in the habit of misrepresenting the words of others..her exact words paraphrased were were we can not understand the words of scripture until we are in heaven, as an example she cited why Jesus would say "I am the bread of life" and have it mean one thing and say " I am the vine or I am the door"' have a different meaning
Poor think does not realize the problem is not the word of God..but the translation HER church puts on the words..

I am sorry if anyone has a problem with the clarity of scripture..but to be frank that is their own doing and not Gods.. Scripture is clear on the person of Christ, and the means of salvation..what small doctrinal differences might seem to exist are on matters not relevant to the message of the scriptures.. if it is not clear it says something about the spirituality of the person, not the word of God

1Cr 2:14 — But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

Gee, I didn’t find this in the Bible.

Doesn't look familiar to me either. Perhaps the one that wrote might know more.

Just not getting you response to my question: Really what do you think - meek, shy, retiring, get along-ism or bold, forceful, righteous anger......what really how should they behave in your world view.

It seems you are saying: meek, shy, retiring, get along-ism is proper behavior.

Humility in no way removes one from being bold, forceful, or righteous anger.

Christ delivered His message in a completely inoffensive manner

And so did Paul...

Matthew 15:16
"Are you still so dull?" Jesus asked them.

Matthew 23

  1.  Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
  2.  "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat.
  3.  So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
  4.  They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
  5.  "Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries  wide and the tassels on their garments long;
  6.  they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;
  7.  they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them `Rabbi.'
  8.  "But you are not to be called `Rabbi,' for you have only one Master and you are all brothers.
  9.  And do not call anyone on earth `father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
 10.  Nor are you to be called `teacher,' for you have one Teacher, the Christ.
 11.  The greatest among you will be your servant.
 12.  For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
 13.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.
 14.  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
 15.   "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
 16.  "Woe to you, blind guides! You say, `If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.'
 17.  You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
 18.  You also say, `If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.'
 19.  You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
 20.  Therefore, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
 21.  And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.
 22.  And he who swears by heaven swears by God's throne and by the one who sits on it.
 23.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
 24.  You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
 25.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
 26.  Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
 27.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!  You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.
 28.  In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
 29.  "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous.
 30.  And you say, `If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'
 31.  So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.
 32.  Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!
 33.  "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?
 34.  Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.
 35.  And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
 36.  I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.
 37.  "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.
 38.  Look, your house is left to you desolate.
 39.  For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, `Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.' "

Mark 7:26-27
 26.  The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
 27.  "First let the children eat all they want," he told her, "for it is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs."

And St. Paul chimes in...

Galatians 5:12
As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

But protestants believe they are REFORMED Christians, Mormons believe they are “RESTORED” Christianity. So, therefore, if Mormonism is the ‘only true church’, why so many breakoffs? Can’t their ‘Jesus’ keep His church together? Appparently not.

Protestants don’t claim they are the ‘only true church’.

Ok, I’ll write really slow.
lds does great harm to the Body of Christ by claiming to be Christians.
Do you care that they make this claim?
Apparently you are not bothered by their claim but are bothered by people who challenge them on this claim.
So which way is it? Bothered by their harm to the Body of Christ by claiming to be Christians or bothered by challenging them on their claim.
