I believe the tithe (which translates “tenth”) is one of the hardest forms of worship of our God as it deals with a part of our flesh that can get us in the most trouble (pride). At the same time, it can be the most beautiful and sacred things one can do (see the Widow’s mites) to show the love we have for our risen Savior Jesus Christ. We forget the complete sacrifice God made of His Son for our eternal salvation yet we argue and gnash our teeth over 10% of something He gave us in the first place.

Thank you for your post....you’re the only one who seems to get the meaning of tithe.
And, you’re right it is one of the hardest forms of worship.

To: All; y'all

I just see tithing like this...

The tithe is 10% yes but here is the tricky part its the first 10% not the left over 10%

God gave the law in the old testament, and it required the shedding of blood for the remission of sins. Not just any blood but the blood of the best. In the law all of the firstborn were to be given to Him. As a sacrifice. It is also of note that God said in the law that it ALL belongs to Him anyway and he just lets us administer it.

As we went on through history we see the birth of God Himself in Christ. The Firstborn of God.
I have noticed that everything in the law was made tougher in the teachings of Jesus and Paul. Such as if you commit adultry under the law you are to be punished but Jesus said if you look on a woman and lust you commit adultry.(tougher right?) If you kill a person under the law you are to be punished but Jesus said you shouldn’t even speak ill of another person. (tougher right?) Under the law a person was to carry someones luggage one mile. Jesus said go two miles (Tougher again right?)

Well lets get back to the First 10%.. God demanded the first 10% of everything when he gave the law. Well the way I see it is it got tougher after the birth of the Firstborn of God. There is no remission of sins without the shedding of blood. (God doesn’t change) So for us to have the remission of sins the FIRST born of God would have to do the deal for us. (even Harder right?) This may tick some of you off but I really don’t care. JESUS WAS GODS TITHE.

So if God can give his best and his first. Then why can’t a Christian give the first 10% of thier income, time or whatever.

Tithing is hard because where a mans treasure is there will his heart be also. So where is your treasure?

Flame away... I don’t mind. I know where God has lead the Biased family regarding this issue and it isn’t one anymore.

BTW I am not a Morman but a Southern Baptist.

Oh and Glen was saying that If we CHRISTIANS gave God’s Tithe back to Him the Government wouldn’t have to take care of what the Church should be taking care of.
