Trust me ...it is not a wish..you’d be surprised who Beck speaks with and corresponds with that escapes the attention of the audiances...and for that matter the Mormon Leadership.

What!?!?!?! Glenn Beck speaks to people that are not Mormon???? It can't be. And without the approval of 'Mormon Leadership"?!?!?!?!?

Please NO!

btw /sarc

I am open to the possibility that I have misinterpreted Beck. I do not wish to put the worse construction upon his views; however, I have also watched Glenn on FOX, and there is a context to his views. I cannot help but believe that Glenn’s Mormonism has affected his views. Glenn seems to believe that the answer to our political problems is a religious revival. I have nothing against revivals, but the assumption is that if everyone turns to God that we will all hold to the same political views, and that God will bless our nation. This is a form of religious triumphalism.
I am a big fan of Jefferson; however, Jefferson would not be my mentor when it comes to religion. Jefferson was a Deist who denied the divinity of Jesus and all the miracles in the Bible. The god of Jefferson is not the God that Christians worship. I do not even know what Divine Providence means. It sounds more like another term for luck.

I have never watched his television program,

Then the author should not of wasted our time with this article. If the author, as he clearly demonstrates thought the article, does not actually know the subject matter, basing his entire article on second hand information and hearsay is infantile.

Honestly MHG, it is pretty clear that the guy has some kind of speech impediment, since he adds an “s” sound at the end of a whole slew of words which obviously don’t end in “s” and were obviosly not intended to be pluralized.

I visited the Youtube page with that song. The guy has a good voice, and I loved how everyone stood up and gave the respect they did.

That said, I have watched his show and listened to him on the radio. Otherwise I would not have posted the article which, in my experience lays out the problem of those who do not know and understand mormon theology and are unaware of the covert proselytizing that Beck does on his shows and did during the 8/28 rally.

Too many Christians have, as the author described "Spiritual Discernment Deficiency".

You are free to label the article as "infantile" and move on, or to investigate the heresies of mormonism and THEN make your own judgment of Beck's actions.

WOW. I just watched the video and he said “Gods” repeatedly, after about 6:43. It is obvious since he has mentioned other plurals, and did the same long s-s-s-s-s sound. VERY ODD.

He sets himself up as a “religious leader”, not I.

I watched his speech at the Lincoln Memorial, and I didn't see him do that at all. He simply said that we need to return to our religious roots that helped make this country in the first place. He didn't say 'follow me' or 'I am the leader.'

This is still one of the best examples of a patriotic speech I've ever witnessed! Youtube of Beck’s long monologue, excellent speech, all of it! In fact, I could really use a lift today, so I'm gonna listen to all over again:

He didn't say 'follow me' or 'I am the leader.'

Everything Glenn did prior to the rally screamed "follow me, I am the leader"...did you ever listen to him in the run up to the rally? Then a few days later he make this arrogant remark."Tea party protesters should "model yourself after what happened on 8/28" or "you're a fool"

Glenn's own words

"Tea party protesters should "model yourself after what happened on 8/28" or "you're a fool"

If I recall correctly, he was talking about the absence of signs at the 8-28 gathering, and I agree with him that the Tea Party gatherings should follow that example. The media is just waiting for any over the top sign, be it from a real Tea Party member or a plant to paint the entire gathering as a bunch of crazy radicals. You will notice that they didn't have that opportunity with the 8-28 crowd because their were no signs. Just a friendly, respectful gathering of Americans.

The Tea Party members would be well served to leave the signs at home.

The bees know! Our mystic leader has me mesmerized. I begin to see bees all around me now. Bees! And occassional flies. I crave gold. I crave food! LOTS of food! Our holy one is great in more ways than one. He is more One than anyone!

Beck has largely gotten over his preachy phase. He’s more his whimsical self again, along with good research. I’d miss him if he disappeared. [But I do hope he quits mimicking after-birthers which only represent 40% of the population now — only complaint left.]
