They just don't care about his [lack of] character.
They have to believe he was above reproach because the entirety of mormonism hinges upon him being a "godly" prophet.
The church and their cabal of apologetic liars are working overtime to revise his history. "New" books about that whoremonger are coming out all the time, making damn sure to omit his sordid behavior and failed prophecies.
Not forgetting his failure to obey commandments and revelations from the mormon god. He told one of the 12 year olds that god revealed to him that she was to be his first plural wife. But he couldn't wait, he got caught up with Fanny Alger.
It breaks my heart when I see young children being brought up in that faith, and to know what kind a man their prophet was. I pray for them.
It just “feels” right.
You know what’s ironic? The mormons damn me and other apostates to outer darkness because we rejected mormonism after being members. Yet, do they even contemplate their fate for rejecting the truth in God’s Words contained in the Bible?
Wishing something to be true, doesn’t make it so.
Their beliefs/teachings about the man borders on, if not crosses over into worship of him.
They even wrote a hymn for him back in the day...Praise to the man.
Google it and you’ll see that lyrics in the hymn place him as either equal to or greater than Jesus.
Two words:
Strong Delusion
I think I struggle to understand how Mormons on one hand say they believe Jesus and on the other hand worship Joseph Smith. I'm curious as to how much they actually know about Jesus or how much to they hear or read his words? ( It reminds me of people who say they are christians and still vote for Obama.....)
Also what is upsetting is to see how their they have so many children. And these children are brought up in a false religion.
I guess the lesson I would take from this is that I must reflect upon my own life and see what I place at or above Jesus.
I need to learn to trust him completely and not worry so much.
I need to learn to trust him completely and not worry so much.
These are precisely the conclusions my wife and I walked away with from our 4 year 'exposure' to SLC and the Mormon influence there. And quite frankly, the church we attended there is still a great influence on us. It is by far the strongest church we've encountered in terms of member associations and caring for one another. Yet it existed and was a successful and growing congregation amidst the overriding specter of Mormonism.
Praise the LORD!

Typical Mormon "take" (spin) on sin involving God's people recounted about in the Bible.
Running this thru the Distortu machine: "and Abraham lied about his wife...go thou & do likewise."
I s'pose Mormons should have read more about Gomer in the OT and likewise concluded, "Gomer set up a prostitution cottage industry. Go thou & do likewise," eh 'stor'u?
Well smith got the lying part right.

A lot more has been unearthed about Joseph Smith and the Mormon church since I looked into it in the late ‘80s. I’ve been reading online from some of the links provided in this and other threads. It’s very interesting stuff.
I have no intention of bashing anyone for their beliefs, but feel free to question them, pointing out the differences between the LDS faith and Christianity. In doing so, I in turn expect an open dialog, freely given. Since what I’ve read is mainly based on LDS provided sources, I would expect adherents to that faith to ‘fess up’. Thus far, I’m not greatly impressed with their willingness.
Just wait; for anything OTHER than acceptance of what they believe is considered BASHING by them.
This will likely get you NOwhere, for...
