Are you of the opinion that a Mormon should never be elected President?

Yes, it is my opinion that an indoctrinated Mormon should never be elected as President of the United States of America. Indoctrinated temple Mormons (as Romney is) have experienced years of brainwashing and indoctrination and also have made covenants and oaths that they plainly cannot disobey. 

Mitt Romney and all temple Mormons have sworn to obey The Law of Consecrationin the secret temple ceremonies which states "You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at the altar, the you do accept the Law of Consecration as contained in The Doctrine and Covenants (a Mormon book), in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, an everything with which the Lord has bless you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon Church), for the building up of the Kingdom of God on earth and for the establishment of Zion."

Ex-Mormon Ed Decker  reveals the penalty for disobedience that was made by Mitt Romney (and all temple Mormons) at the time he took out his temple endowments: The "execution of the penalty" for disobedience was demonstrated "by placing the thumb under the left ear, the palm of the hand down, and by drawing the thumb quickly across the throat to the right ear, and dropping the hand to the side."

It says, right here in their SCRIPTURES:

The Doctrine and Covenants

 

Section 132

Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, recorded 12 July 1843, relating to the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage covenant, and also the plurality of wives (see History of the Church, 5:501–7). Although the revelation was recorded in 1843, it is evident from the historical records that the doctrines and principles involved in this revelation had been known by the Prophet since 1831.

1–6, Exaltation is gained through the new and everlasting covenant; 7–14, The terms and conditions of that covenant are set forth; 15–20, Celestial marriage and a continuation of the family unit enable men to become gods; 21–25, The strait and narrow way leads to eternal lives; 26–27, The law is given relative to blasphemy against the Holy Ghost; 28–39, Promises of eternal increase and exaltation are made to prophets and Saints in all ages; 40–47, Joseph Smith is given the power to bind and seal on earth and in heaven; 48–50, The Lord seals upon him his exaltation; 51–57, Emma Smith is counseled to be faithful and true; 58–66, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.

  Alma 3: 6    'And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.'

August 27, 1954 in an address at Brigham Young University (BYU), Mormon Elder, Mark E Peterson, in speaking to a convention of teachers of religion at the college level, said:

"The discussion on civil rights, especially over the last 20 years, has drawn some very sharp lines. It has blinded the thinking of some of our own people, I believe. They have allowed their political affiliations to color their thinking to some extent.I think I have read enough to give you an idea of what the Negro is after."

"He is not just seeking the opportunity of sitting down in a cafe where white people eat. He isn't just trying to ride on the same streetcar or the same Pullman car with white people. It isn't that he just desires to go to the same theater as the white people. From this, and other interviews I have read, it appears that the Negro seeks absorption with the white race. Remember the little statement that we used to say about sin, 'First we pity, then endure, then embrace'...."

We are told that on June 8, 1978, it was 'revealed' to the then president, Spencer Kimball, that people of color could now gain entry into the priesthood.

According to the church, Kimball spent many long hours petitioning God, begging him to give worthy black people the priesthood. God finally relented.

Sometime before the 'revelation' came to chief 'Prophet' Spencer Kimball in June 1978, General Authority, Bruce R McConkie had said:

"The Blacks are denied the Priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty.

The Negroes are not equal with other races where the receipt of certain blessings are concerned, particularly the priesthood and the temple blessings that flow there from, but this inequality is not of man's origin, it is the Lord's doings."

When Mormon 'Apostle' Mark E Petersen spoke on 'Race Problems- As they affect the Church' at the BYU campus in 1954, the following was also said:

"...if the negro accepts the gospel with real, sincere faith, and is really converted, to give him the blessings of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a servant, but he will get celestial glory."

When Mormon 'Prophet' and second President of the Church, Brigham Young, spoke in 1863 the following was also said:

"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God is death on the spot. This will always be so."

Mormons have an entirely different understanding of what that means.

Mormonism was founded in Upstate New York, in an area known as the Burned Over District because of the number of revivals that had been held there over the decades. By that time, everybody in New York had been saved ten times over.

Spiritualism, mostly genteel stuff like Ouija boards and seances, was also very popular among the middle class at that time, and Joseph Smith took bits of everything, both revivalist Protestantism and 19th century New Age magic. He hired himself out to find gold by looking through a magic crystal in the bottom of his hat...

While his religion, particularly as refined by Brigham Young, seems to have been very Old Testament focused, he also picked up other concepts in the classic syncretist fashion (Mohammed did the same thing). Hence he stuck in references to things he had no doubt heard about, such as the Trinity.

But Mormonism does not have an orthodox understanding of God the Son, and the rest of its theology and cosmology is completely wacky and cannot fit into Christian theology or Christian cosmology in any way. Joseph Smith was not just another Protestant revival preacher; he was like L. Ron Hubbard, Mohammed, even Jim Jones, whose deluded minds had their own personal “revelations.”

For some reason - actually, a pretty obvious reason - a lot of these revelations involved polygamy, meaning that the head males got to live it up and have as many females as they wanted. Jim Jones also had “spiritual marriages” (which entailed sex more than anything else) with many women and even very young girls in his group.

Mormons who tell themselves that they are orthodox Christians need to be honest. I respect their sincerity because I think they have glimpsed Christianity and really want to be Christians. Yet to do so they need to renounce Mormonism, but the problem is that it is such a complete system, covering every aspect of their lives, that it is virtually impossible for them to consider this.

- he’d appoint liberal federal justices, who favor abortion
- he’d sign into law cap n trade legislation

This person seems to be saying that anyone who is a mormon should not have the right to practice their religious beliefs and serve their country at the same time. I personally know people who said the same thing about JFKennedy, that he should never be allowed to run for president because he was catholic. That seems to be anti-constitutional to me. CNN is happy to air views that bash any religious group that won’t lop their heads off and if it makes Christians look hateful and intolerant, well that just tickles them silly.
This author is entitled to her opinion and has the same constitutional right to freedom of expression as everyone else. And, no I don’t consider freedom of religion to trump freedom of speech, but as I said declaring that someone should not be allowed to run for president or serve as president because of their religious views is pretty messed up.
I don’t much like Romney, but that is a political thing. Democrats and Progressives annoy me.

She never said Mormons could not "RUN for president" -- or shouldn't be allowed to. A very specific word was utilized there: "elected". "Elections" are the decisions of voters -- not governments!

Now, you're not trying to tell VOTERS that they HAVE to vote for cultists for POTUS, are you? Are you saying if we don't, we're "pretty messed up?"

It’s referred to that way in books on the history of the time, and was also known by that name to 19th century preachers themselves, who ceased going there because it had already been “burned over” and there was nobody left to go to the revivals.

It did leave people with a predisposition to follow individual preachers rather than a church, though, and that was one of the things that contributed to the success of Joseph Smith.

Personally, I think the whole question of Mormon beliefs will eventually be resolved the same way the question of admitting blacks to full membership was resolved: the president of the church will have a dream or a vision telling him to renounce certain things and accept a more orthodox theological and possibly even historical view. There are many people in the Mormon Church who would probably be very happy to hear such a revelation.

I lived in an area with a lot of Mormons, and I can see why it would be very hard for them to think of doing anything else. It was a very complete system that controlled every aspect of their lives, and in addition, if they left or even doubted the Mormon church, they would lose all their friends, their family and the whole structure of their lives. But I suspect this will be resolved in some other way, and then the Mormons will become more like the Mennonites or some other group that also has a very complete way of life and is somewhat separate, but still holds to orthodox Christianity and has that in common with other Christians.
