MormonISM absolutely rejects the Trinity! Sounds like your “friend” isn’t even aware of what mormonism teaches. They believe in polytheism, not the Triune God of the Bible. If your friend denies this, he/she is either being deceitful or is not aware of what mormonism teaches.

Rumor nothing...it’s called being familiar with their actual teachings from their own sacred books. Mormons can claim they believe whatever they want, but their official church documents often contradict what mormons claim to believe. They have undergone a recent PR campaign to try to convince people they are just another Christian church, when really they teach very un-Christian things.

Why are you making this an either or choice? Who said anything about voting for someone who wants us all beheaded? Obviously, no conservative would ever vote for someone like that. This is Primary season - Republicans and conservatives need to carefully decide who the nominee will be. I think it’s totally appropriate to consider everything about a potential nominee, including their religious beliefs, because it goes to the core of the values and their thought process.

Having been trained to be an LDS missionary (and having been LDS), it is more likely he is being deliberately decietful.

Mormons will lie or obfuscate their beliefs, like when asked if they believe in the Trinity they will say “we blieve in God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit”, KNOWING that the Christian (or person asking) will take that as a “Yes”, even tho the Mormon KNOWS that they believe something else.

Occasionally you will get, like I was, an honest Mormon who will be open about their beliefs. And that is exactly why I ended up not serving my LDS mission. I was told in training, that I was to LIE or deny certain beliefs that are LDS doctrine because the ‘gentiles’ (all non-mormons) wouldn’t understand, they didn’t have enough ‘light’ (very gnostic btw), or they wouldn’t join the LDS church.

So, I’ll put my money on the friend is lying in order to make Mormonism look good.

It’s is called ‘lying for the Lord’.
