What`s next Ireland, forcing defence lawyers to turn on their clients... what would be the point of this law the child abusers would just not go to confession then would they...
Lawyers are already legally bound to turn in their clients when they know a crime has been committed. A lawyer is not exempt.
If a murder defendant tells everyone but their lawyer that they are innocent...but then tell the lawyer they did it...that lawyer is bound to tell the court. He can still defend based on all sorts of extenuating circumstances...but he cannot hide the confession legally.
I am not opposed to hold priests and bartenders to the same standard.
