Rector of Franciscan shrine in San Francisco calls out ‘Catholic’ politicians who do nothing to stop abortion

(The following comes from the Oct. 9 Sunday bulletin of the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi in San Francisco. It was written by the shrine’s rector, Fr. Gregory Coiro, O.F.M.Cap. Fr. Coiro begins by discussing this weekend’s Rosary Rally in San Francisco, but later takes on ‘Catholic’ politicians who don’t vote like Catholics at all.)

Like many others in San Francisco, I am very excited about the Rosary Rally in the Civic Center Plaza this coming Saturday, October 15, at 12 noon. What makes the event even more exciting for the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi is that the rally’s keynote speaker, Father Andrew Apostoli of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, will celebrate Mass at 9 a.m. that day here in our church.

(When the Rosary Rally organizers contacted me to see if Father Andrew could celebrate Mass here, I thought they had in mind a private Mass -- after all the church does not open to the public until 10 a.m. The next thing you know, the Mass was being announced on the Eternal Word Television Network, as well as on the Rosary Rally website. So, it will be anything but private!)

Father Andrew, like Father Benedict Joseph Groeschel and the other founding members of the Friars of the Renewal, was a Capuchin Franciscan friar before establishing their new community that seeks to live the Rule of St. Francis even more austerely but in the Capuchin spirit and tradition.

A noted author and preacher, Father Andrew is frequently seen on EWTN. Something very special about him is that he was ordained to the priesthood by the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen and now serves as the vice-postulator of his...........

Quick, someone tell Archbishop O’Malley in Boston that the Franciscans are CHALLENGING, NOT SUPPORTING pro-abortion politicians! What will they do with the Kennedys?

Get two or three big, strapping young Franciscan friars to come and -— explain the matter to them.

In God’s world he will!

Why is it that the Catholic Church is still the only Church standing against

Same-sex marriage
Contraception
Abortion
Euthanasia
Embryonic Stem Cell Research

and for the Sacrament of Marriage and the imitating the Holiness of Christ?

Can someone tell me why so many people hate the Catholic Church?

Sure, because they stand up and don’t budge on these issues.

“And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

“In God’s world he will!” God put us in charge of this world.

“Why is it that the Catholic Church is still the only Church standing against

Same-sex marriage
Contraception
Abortion
Euthanasia
Embryonic Stem Cell Research

and for the Sacrament of Marriage and the imitating the Holiness of Christ?” It needs to excommunicate those who support politicians who stand up for ALL of those. Without the Catholic vote the Democrat machines which run the big cities would be powerless. Lots of Protestant denominations are opposed to all those as well.

“Can someone tell me why so many people hate the Catholic Church?” Because it has Good within it. Evil always hate the Good.

**and for the Sacrament of Marriage and the imitating the Holiness of Christ?**

And where was Christ’s first miracle worked? At a wedding! The Wedding of Cana.

And what did his Mother say?

“Do whatever He tells you.”

Those are her last words in the Bible.

Do whatever He (Christ) tells you.”
