Would it be possible to go outside the VA?
Have you asked the VA about second opinions?

You’ve probably already scoured the internet for information and advice on edema and complications along with your VA doctors. Sometimes disease specific support groups and such can be a great source of good info too. Hopefully there may be something here. Stress can make things worse.

May I ask if this is an open wound infection? Remember when JimRob was facing surgery for a non healing wound? He started on some ‘honey’ therapy, and it evidently put off and saving that leg. I don’t know if this sort of treatment is available to you or if it is adaptable to your situation.

PS - You should definitely lay in a supply of Castor Oil and rub it into your legs from knee down - I’d bet after a few thorough treatments you would lose most if not all swelling.
Let it stay on for well after the oil is dry and wash it off with epsom salts. If the swelling is advanced remember to do this three or four times before expecting results. Stay off your feet for awhile too.
