Thank you for reminding us what evil things your leaders have said.

"Now if any of you will deny the plurality of wives, and continue to do so, I promise that you will be damned;

and I will go still further and say, take this revelation, or any other revelation that the Lord has given,

and deny it in your feelings, and I promise that you will be damned.

Brigham Young - JoD 3:266 (July 14, 1855)

(Looks like you SLC mormons are in BIG trouble!!)

that means incomplete statements I would have to read the whole statements in context.

SURELY you know of the MILK before MEAT concept in MORMONism!

If Romney was not a spineless, shapeshifting, condescending, flaming liberal; people would probably look past his religion.

If he was a rock solid; consistent conservative; I'm sure people here in Iowa would look past his religion.

I realize my question would not be answered.

Mr. (oops!) PROFESSOR Millet has an explanation for that...

Some would; some wouldn't.

You overgeneralize.

Let's take Mormonism out of it for just a moment.

Pick any candidate.

Now imagine if he announced tomorrow, that he had a "revelation from God" that he was...

...a god-in-embryo...

...was eternally progressing to become a grown-up god...

...would join Heavenly Father as a "peer" divinity...

...and would be a god of his own world...

Now tell me honestly.

If this candidate XYZ was otherwise "a rock solid, consistent conservative" you don't think that this announcement would effect either your vote or the vote of others?

You see, for some reason, the most outrageous other-worldly beliefs often get a "pass" in some people's minds when you attach "Mormon" next to it...but not "Scientology" or not if some candidate made the above announcement tomorrow.

Well, let's loop this back around:
Mormons have been endlessly told by some of their leaders that they are "gods in embryo"...that they are eternally progressing unto godhood...that they will be gods of their own spheres...etc.

Sorry, HITH...I don't vote for candidates who deem themselves as peers with God.

Allow me to add a few....

Jesus Christ was not a POLYGAMIST as FLDS/LDS "Prophets" Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were and taught.

Jesus Christ was not a SINNER as FLDS/LDS "Prophets" Joseph Smith and Brigham Young taught.

....And just for the record, I am not a Catholic, but a non-denominational Christian.

Being a Christian is not about religion or denomination BUT A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP. That being said, however, SOME religions were frauds from inception, purposely designed to lead God's sheep astray. We are commanded to have nothing to do with them, but rather expose them.

Very few Mormons can defend their faith. Instead, they repeat what they have been told (I did that as well when I was LDS), give the same pat responses that they hear over and over again, and dismiss anything not glowing about ‘the Church’ as lies or ‘anti’ propaganda. Their leaders are complicit in this because they demonize those outside the LDS church and constantly tell the membership to avoid anything that is not ‘faith promoting’. The leadership discourages defense of the faith for the most part particularly because it is not defensible.

Wow. Replace references to LDS with "liberals" and it's pretty much the same.
