I suppose there is a reason the Bible was limited to Latin for hundreds of years.

The Bible was never ever limited to Latin. Why is it that you guys can never get anything right? Not historical facts, and not theology. Do you realize that Scripture was used to defend the enslavement of blacks? http://bit.ly/t7qTq2 was written by Congregational Reverend Josiab in his illustrious career.

It is also used by bigoted and navel gazing Americans to 'prove' America's place in Scripture (hint: Joseph Smith's descendents believe that the Garden of Eden is in the vicinity of Kansas City). I hope that every erstwhile Christian actually goes and acquires a working knowledge not only of Scripture, but of the times, geography and the cultures in which the Bible was written and chosen.

Contrary to what many Protestants think, there was no mass distribution of anything written, and furthermore, literacy was limited to maybe two percent of the population except in places like Alexandria.
