Those are tourists.
Without paragraphs, etc, your post is completely unreadable.
A simple link would have sufficed.
They're trying to use verbiage once again rather than the behavior.....showing tourists in a church “museum” is just that...tourists. The attempting to use that to question worshiping idols is just frivolous at best. There are plenty of photos, videos etc. showing the behavior...or better said "the ACT of worship".
There were many depictions of the Last Supper in that era...some were given other names as they were too risque too much like a love feast...others mildly so...but I think to catholics de Vinci’s works are often used because they simply like the art form....like he’s as holy as the paintings he painted. Because certain art critics think his images were great does not make them so.....but it was more his methods and color mixtures which gained him notoriety even moreso and is only one measurement of a good artist.
You have to be a bit gothic to like that work I think...and I’m with you...wouldn’t have it in my home either.
What is revealing in the post is the “must” believe.....repetitiously stated, and demanding. Which sounds cold and heartless and void of the love Jesus used when He “invited” people to believe. Truly sounds more like the Sadducee’s and Pharisee’s making their demands as they did at that time as well.
You don’t want to go there. What the Mormons believe about God the Father and Mary is heresy. But then, Mormons believe that God the Father is a material being if flesh and blood.
I’m afraid that some people fail to see that God uses his children in many areas to minister to others. I see the Religion Forum as a ministry, not all that different than a Bible study only a virtual Bible study with participants from everywhere. It is actually pretty awesome when you think about it. I am blessed by your contributions to this virtual Bible study, CB, and I pray God continues to teach you his ways and provide for all your needs in Christ Jesus.
The same to you, too, Metmom and all who respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit to earnestly contend for the faith.
Jesus is male, just as was Peter. Petra has female gender. You might want to rethink Jesus as Petra.
You didn't answer. Was Peter named Rock by Jesus?
roflol!
I can agree with that...and because of this we are challenged and find ourselves pouring over scriptures to get to the truth of a matter...or delving into history where in both cases we pick up gold along the way.
I am grateful for the "regulars" here...who post allot...if something is confusing or conflicting you can see what they're saying about a topic...while you research it yourself...it's just a good place to come....until the doggy piles occur...but they never last long.
Any one know Greek?
1Corinthians10:4
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.
Does Paul use the word “Petra” in reference to Christ in this verse?
“Petra” is the word used by Paul here as well as by Peter at 1 Peter 2:8.
You just keep telling yourself that...perhaps, to your own downfall, you may even come to believe it. Wouldn’t that be a sad day?
Peter is named Rock. As a name, the gender of the name must match the sex of the subject. So using the Greek, Peter's name is the male Petros. If you refer to a rock, the gender is female, i.e. petras. Jesus is the rock (petras), but if He were named rock it would be Petros.
It's really a mute point in this case because we're talking about a translation of Simon's name change from the Aramaic Cephas (rock) to the Greek Petros (male for rock), and further to the English Peter (rock).
Now that's some of the worst advice I've ever read for a Christian to follow...
The natural man's logic and the natural man's wisdom, and you'll have it all figured out...
Follow 'em right into the ditch...
And now you invite us to a Catholic Caucus thread???
I agree...That's why we spend all of our time posting about the prayers and devotions of the Catholic religion to the false gods...
We have a mandate from God...
Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." 2 Tim. 4:2.
