Atheist article calls Tim Tebow a "Christian Taliban"

Tim Tebow is called a "Christian Taliban" by an atheist, comparing Southern Baptists to Muslim fundamentalists. Link to Mindposts article here

Excerpt: "Superstar NFL quarterback Tim Tebow looks like an All-American guy, but he has more in common with the Taliban than with our Founding Fathers.

The press has given Tim an open mic to opine on abortion, virtue, and piety. When will reporters ask Tim to share his views on gay marriage, the subservience of women, the power of the devil, where the dinosaurs too big for the Ark, or the age of the planet?

His overt Christianity has resounded with the American public, most of whom claim to be Christian. The truth is that Tim Tebow’s medieval, fundamentalist, demon fearing, tongues speaking, Christ riding a dinosaur, beliefs are the antithesis of what most Americans believe. In fact, Tim Tebow thinks YOU (and most Americans) are going to Hell."

I just hope Tebow has a good Godly life. I don't think he will be a decade long player in the NFL, for a lot of reasons. But I appreciate what he is on and off the field.

You are right that if Tebow were black his praise of God wouldn’t bother so many people

I wonder if you, like I do, find this just a little bit condescending to blacks. It's like, "Don't worry, we don't expect you to have the same sophistication that we liberal whites do. We only hate those that should know better"??

Of course. Everything about the liberals is condescending to blacks. They think blacks are just too stupid to know any better. That is why they hold them to a low standard. It’s the soft bigotry of low expectations.

Us racist conservatives actually expect proper behavior from all people, regardless of their race, and we are against race based preferences. We believe that blacks are plenty smart and as capable as everyone else.

Leviathan may or may not be a dinosaur, Job doesn’t talk about riding him, and Christ is the Incarnation and there were no dinosaurs when he was on earth.

The author still doesn’t know what he is talking about, and I see no reason for you to try and defend him.

No, Job doesn't talk about riding Leviathan, whatever a leaviathon is (Job obviously knew), but the passage (in context) is about the fact that Job needed a lesson in the picture of WHO God is (and who Job isn't). God isn't speaking to Job about how God controls and rides the monster, but rather how He is sovereign and omnipotent and Job is not. It is not Job's place to question God.

The author still doesn’t know what he is talking about, and I see no reason for you to try and defend him.

The author needs a lesson, as did Job, about WHO God is. If I had been talking with the author, and he said that about God Himself riding a dinosaur, I would have given this passage as well as others that talk about the character of the Almighty God in that he doesn't need to ride anything for sport or to "show off". (Why else would one mention that Christ would ride a dinosaur except to mock His character?). Read the end of the passage quoted: 9 Behold, the hope of a man is false; he is laid low even at the sight of him. 10 No one is so fierce that he dares to stir him up. Who then is he who can stand before me? 11 Who has first given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine.

I am not defending the author. I am sorry that you understood that I was. Quite the opposite really. The author is really in a very sad state with such a hardened heart. If the Lord does not choose to soften it, then this author will reap what he sows and that will not be pleasant for those who mock the Almighty God.
