As a non Catholic I do not venerate nails, bones or other items said to have been part of the history of the Church or The Bible. I glory in the cross. My focus, worship and "veneration" is upon Jesus Christ who, I believe, all true saints of God would also have had their focus upon. None of them would have wanted us to spending our adoration on any other but God Himself.

The Shroud of Turin is more than a relic. It is evidence of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It has captured, by an astounding negative picture, a glimpse into one of the most important points of all of time. For any honest, thinking person who has carefully studied the evidence it is amazing proof that Jesus Christ actually did rise from the dead. It has helped many who sought truth to believe that what The Bible says is the truth. It shows forth the resurrection power of Jesus Christ which is spoken about in The Bible. The Shroud of Turin is not a bone or a nail said to be an item from the history of The Bible and often as not really isn't. It is a powerful confirmation of The Word of God.

We venerate things that belong to Lincoln, Washington and even our Aunt Gertrude. These are souvenirs of people who have passed away, whose memories we cherish. The natural attachment we have for things once owned by those we love and admire, In any case, what you think us beside the point. Christians have always gone to and worshiped at shrines dedicated to holy people. Even protestants go to Jerusalem and to the Sea of Galilee, just have have a human connection with Our Savior, or the history of Israel. The words of the Bible take on new meaning once you actually travel from Jericho to Jerusalem. The episode of the blind beggar certainly do.
