Jewish leaders are criticizing a ceremony that involved a controversial megachurch leader being wrapped in a religious scroll and exalted as a “king” to the applause of his parishioners.
The video from a service last Sunday at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church shows Rabbi Ralph Messer, a Messianic preacher, instructing two men to slowly wrap Bishop Eddie Long in a large scroll that’s purported to be the Torah.
It doesnt matter where you go, how you try to attack him. Hes sealed, Messer proclaims, before the scroll is opened to reveal a teary-eyed Long. Moments later, Long was seated in a plush chair, covered in a prayer shawl while holding the sacred scroll and lifted by four men.
He now is raised up from a commoner to a kingship, Messer proclaims, as the men walk Longs seat around an adoring crowd.
Messianic Jews believe that Jesus Christ, or Yeshua, is the Messiah, putting them at odds with traditional Jewish theology. Most Jews consider the faith to be a form of evangelical Christianity.
..The Torah is one of Judaisms most sacred objects and Jewish groups said the notion that it was used in a ceremony at the church was offensive.

you mean King Eddie :)

Reading comprehension is your friend.
Just for thread info purposes - Messer’s not a bit Jewish and has had no formal rabbinical training. He’s a fraud and a disgrace to the Messianic community and the entire 9 min video - widely available on youtube - is appalling.
Actually Eddie Long isn’t messianic, he’s just a regular megachurch leader currently on the hook for improper sexual contact with half a dozen boys and getting divorced over it. Ralph Messer is the “messianic” who was at Eddie’s church, crowning him “untouchable king,” the antics of which make ridiculous the notion that Messer knows the Torah at all.
I’d stated upthread that he claimed to be Jewish, and that is accurate. He does claim to be.

The inclination and approval of this type of thing arises from “End Times” mass psychology.
Persons who begin to develop fears about “end times” would do well to give greatest scrutiny to their own behavior, values and how they live their life, reflecting on what the scriptures tell them about those things and concern themselves less with following modern-day “prophets” claiming divine messages from G-d, or claiming that some special divine authority from G-d was granted them.
But, everyone should keep in mind this type of thing is not only said to be seen greatly at the “end times”, it has found those who fall into it in any era, and always. Seeing it now is not in and of itself a mark (with any human certainty) of the actual “end-times”
You’re right, he does make the claim.
With a bit of Benny Hinn theatrics thrown in. Pagan magic show indeed.
Shalom in the name of Y'shua HaMashiach to you as well.
This seems to be a great racket. How does one get in on it?
