IMHO The Catholic Church has been remiss in ex communicating certain Catholics based on the church's teachings - Pelosi; Ted Kennedy etc... or was the Church steering a path to ensure separation of Church and Country?

When I grew up, the USMC was often referred to the US “MC”, or Irish Marines (mostly Catholics but we like our brother Left Footers, said in a spirit of brotherhood).
