We are centuries away, and separated by chasms of cultural assumptions, from the world in which it was even possible to think of one’s faith as having enemies and needing to be defended. Catholics of the modern age have long assumed that that world was gone forever, and there is some reason to believe that it is indeed.

This statement could not be more dangerous, not only to Catholicism, but to Christianity and Christians as well.

Christianity is beset constantly by enemies, both corporeal and spiritual, and will be until the matter is settled once and for all, upon the Day of Judgement.

The sort of complacency this statement would evoke might feel warm and fuzzy, but it is far from the shredding reality of those adversarial to The Almighty, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit--and they are Legion.

No. Muslims worship Mohamed and Catholics worship Mary.

No they bloody well don’t. I’m a Catholic who has NO USE for the Vatican or the Pope. Flame away if you want fellow Catholics but I don’t need these ossified old farts telling me I need to listen to them in order to love and serve my God. I accept the Trinity of Christ, not these old dolts making nice with a bunch of worthless Saracen bastards who call me an infidel and my Jewish brethren ‘’pigs and monkeys’’ and who would cut their heads off and mine in a heartbeat.

If there truly is only one God, how can anyone worship the wrong one, no matter how they worship or what they believe? Who answers the prayers and comforts those in need, when someone ask God for help or guidance? Since God knows what is in one’s heart, how could He possibly not hear someone who truly asks for His help, no matter what name they use for Him, or how they exercise those beliefs?
