What the heck? Where do these folks come from? Where do they go?

I haven't a clue.

But when you hear them all saying "and also with you" ... you get a clue where they haven't been ...

Yes, I tell the wife those are the Obama voters! "and with your spirit" ;)

the Catholic hierarchy(Bishops) tends to speak about voting in the theoretic rather than the practical. Since 1980, the republicans have been pro-life and the Democrats pro-abortion. On social justice issues, concern for the poor, establishing and maintaining a safety net the republicans have agreed with all this but with spending less and making the programs more accountable to prevent fraud. Any time a republican speaks of reducing fraud in one of these social justice programs to possibly save some money or reduce one of these programs a bit because of financial constraints(every year we borrow to spend on our yearly budget), the democrats run to the main stream media and scream that republicans want to starve people, kill grandma or worse.

Some people, DEMOCRATIC VOTERS, make the simple analogy that Democrats are tend to be closer to Catholic teaching on treatment of the poor and needy, and republicans tend to be closer to Catholic teaching on family and life issues.
This ignores the broader strokes of reality in politics. The democrats are for every sexual and cultural deviancy. The Democratic Party has every anti-Catholic position sitting at the conference table waiting for their turn to push their agenda in the realm of sexuality, abortion, anti-religion. Whereas the Republican Party is the only cultural force outside of Christianity and the Catholic Church that opposes this cultural tide. Unfortunately, it can be said for both the Republican Party and the Catholic(Christian) churches is that they have served as an ineffectual doorstop against a door that is intending to swing wide open.

A Catholic who votes democratic is an unwitting enemy of his own religion, God and Gods people. Like the 1st century through 3rd century Rome ....there will be martyrs.

Yes, yes, yes, you are so right.

I had an argument with a friend, who attends Mass weekly, sometimes even daily who will vote once again for Obama and all the Democrats on the ballot for the very reasons you listed.

I brought up abortion and got no reaction, no response except that the Republicans hate the poor, hate women and will take from them all the things the Democrats have given them.

“I would not have a job helping the poor if it wasn’t for Democrats!” she declared.

I asked her, “Why do you have to have a job from the government to help the poor?”

No response, and since then I haven’t spoken to her though we always smile at each other when we happen to meet.

Sad, sad, sad.

Were these viters also undiscerning?

(These are old numbers showing how favor with Obama has deteriorated.)

50 percent of Catholics (Catholics make up about 22 percent of the U.S. population.) approve of his presidency, down from 67 percent in his first six months in office.
DOWN 17 POINTS

among non-Catholic Christians, who make up 55 percent of the U.S. population, had fallen from 58 percent to 43 percent.
DOWN 15 POINTS

Mormon respondents, who represent about two percent of U.S. adults, fell from 43 percent to 26 percent
DOWN 17 POINTS

About 78 percent of Muslim respondents approved of the Obama presidency, down eight percentage points from when the question was first asked.  (86)
DOWN 8 POINTS

atheists, agnostics, and members of other non-Christian religions, who comprise about 13 percent of the U.S. population -- While about 75 percent of these respondents approved of President Obama at the start of his term, their approval declined to about 64 percent.
DOWN 11 POINTS

Jews were the religious group third likeliest to approve of President Obama, giving him 61 percent approval. This too is a decline: in January-June 2009, their approval rating of the president was 77 percent.
DOWN 16 POINTS

Overall, 48 percent of Americans approve of President Obama’s job, down from 63 percent in the first months of his presidency. Gallup claims that its survey of over 276,000 adults claims an overall margin of error of plus or minus one percent.
DOWN 15 POINTS

According to Jesus, it’s built on sand instead of rock.

--> yes, that's the various beliefs outside of orthodoxy --> various "evang" groups/cults have broken up so quickly and split up over and over agian, they are adequate proof that they are built on sand....

In contract orthdoxy continues, thanks to God's grace --> the Catholic/Orthodox/Oriental Church continues, while the chaff in the non-Apostolic Church just dissipate over and over

That’s sheer nonsense from Evangmlw’s posts like: No, Jesus never drank strong drink and He didn’t create 150 gallons of rotten juice to throw a drunken party. Jesus Christ never created anything tainted, and fermented juice is tainted.

WOW! Thanks for that responnse. It is a very clear, concise description of what is happening in our society regarding morals and applying them to voting habits.
