In a recent post, I slammed black pastors for failing to stand up for their Christian faith in the face of attack by Nation of Islam supreme leader Louis Farrakhan.
So, in fairness, I must applaud members of the black clergy who have put Biblical principle above racial hegemony in their public criticism of President Obama for his ungodly support of homosexual marriage.
I love the president, said Rev. Emmitt Burns, pastor of Rising Sun Baptist Church in Baltimore, but I cannot support what he has done. He told CNN that the presidents failure to defend traditional marriage between one man and one woman will lead to his defeat in November.
Rev. Burns sentiments were echoed by Rev. Keith Ogden, pastor of Hill Street Baptist Church in Ashville, N.C. He is not God, he said of Obama. And he doesnt speak for all black folk just because hes African American.
Much of the black community feels the same way as Revs. Burns and Ogden, as borne out by a poll last month by Pew Research Center, in which 49 percent of blacks expressed their opposition to gay marriage, compared to 39 percent in favor.
I suspect that many black churchgoers feel just as offended as the broader faith community that Obama dared to attributes his so-called evolution on homosexual marriage to Christian values he and his wife Michelle supposedly share.
We are both practicing Christians, the president claimed last week, in an interview that aired on ABC News, and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others.
But, he continued, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing Himself on our behalf, but its also the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
Well, the Golden Rule does indeed instruct us to treat others as we wish to be treated ourselves. But it certainly does not tell us we must blithely accept sin.
And the last time I checked, the Bible clearly identified homosexuality as a sin. Thou shall not lie with a man, as with a woman, the Scripture declares. It is abomination.
So to endorse homosexual marriage, as the president has, is to defy Gods law. It is to side with those practicing the very abomination for which the Almighty destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gommorah.
And, for Obama, the falsehearted Christian, it is to break faith with the black community on one of the great moral issues of our time.
Perhaps filing hate crimes against a Cretan white hispanic will help
Perhaps this will show some blacks how putrid 0bama actually is. Let’s hope so.
I wonder how the Nation of Islam and the New Black Panters feel about this.
Bwahahahahahaa! ROTFLMAO!
It's the 'hell' he's possibly going to have to pay long after November has come and gone that he ought to be worried about.
Naa, they’ll vote for him all the same... like conservatives holding their noses to vote for Romney, the black community will rally around “the First Black President” regardless, especially once the race baiting is in full swing.
What pap!! If marriage is such a revered institution in the black community, why is the out of wedlock birthrate 71%?
The American tax payers, voters and the black community leaders are all under the bus fodder for mac daddy whenever there is a choice between what he want and what these different groups want.
Mac daddy, first and always.
Well said.
Good point.
Perhaps they should have said “The black FAITH community.” Then again...I’m a cynic and will believe it when I see it.
Consider the 2 cookie post (mistake) a same cookie gay marriage partners.
Now, he’s Greek?!
Because like everything else with democrats, it’s what they say, not what they do that matters.
All bloviating and bluster from the tribal leaders until they get to the voting booth and perform their ritual blood oath loyalty to glorious brotha Barack!
Take that to the bailed out Bank.
Like Obama, both are proponents of communist "Black Liberation".
