I’ve have heating pads and lamps out for him.

Your poor Guinea!

I grew up with loads of Guineas and they’re such personable birds.

Can you get some chicks for the survivor?

I worry that he’ll grieve himself to death.

They’re extremely communal birds.

Please give your hubby my condolences.

:(

Notice he's not in my lap.

Ran across this little fella on a fishing trip. Hope you can find your snake! I got a dog.

Great photo, then.

[I don’t think I’d have stuck around for it, myself]...;D

Shari,

www.prayersforpets.org

There are some *very* powerful prayer warriors there, imho.
(& of course, adding my own)

I hope you won’t hesitate to post notices (with photo, if possible) locally- esp with vets & feed stores & on Facebook if you are there. Also, notify your local animal control.

God Bless you & Alice.

I posted there and feel almost ashamed to be bothering them.

*So* many missing and desperately sick pets.

So tragic.

So heart rending.

:(

Because most people, on hearing something that another person considers tragic (”I lost my guns and ammo in a boating accident, my dog died, etc.)

Don’t reply with any variation of “Do you know how many dogs bite people in a year?” or “My brother in law committed suicide by sticking a gun in his mouth.”

Why? Because they believe in showing empathy and recognize that there is a time and place to discuss dog bites or suicide by gun—and that there is a time and place when it is not only poor taste, but inappropriate.

If you really want to discuss snakes attacking people, there are threads for that. Even if there weren’t, you can start one, and see how many people are eager to discuss the subject.

Bringing it up on THIS thread, which is a place for empathy, compassion, and prayers shows a lack of regard for Salamander.

If your intent is to continue to paint yourself in a bad light, I daresay you’ll continue, but if you have any regard for a fellow FREEPer, any respect for Salamander, consider how YOU would want to be treated if it were YOUR dog (or child, or guns or wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend) that was lost/ill/dying and YOU wanted prayers and empathy.

Treat her as you would wish to be treated if you genuinely came to the forum for compassion and prayers.

The prayersforpets place is much sadder.

I see how I’ll be spending this sleepless night.

So many more people need prayers than I do.

You cannot imagine my attic.

* * *

I come from three generations of hoarders so actually, yes I can. ;o)

At any rate, just because *you* don’t want to go into your attic doesn’t mean Alice doesn’t! Seriously, I would check there, if you haven’t already.

Again, much luck on finding her! (Him?)

It’s okay.

It’s not like I didn’t expect any weirdness because of what kind of animal it is.

It’s an ancient, ingrained fear and I’m not holding a personal grudge against Spunky.

This is just the way the world is.

If I expected to always find warm and fuzzy hugs for my pets, I wouldn’t have gotten snakes.

It’s not a big deal.

I’ve heard much worse and managed to deal with it.

Loving things that are intrinsically loveable is easy.
I have love for the things that others find unlovable.

I reckon somebody has to.

Everybody has the right to their own feelings.

How long has Alice been missing? When was the last time you know he ate and how long can he go before he must eat again? I’m a kitteh person so I have no idea at all about snakes. Do you have many other snakes and is it at all possible that Alice could be in “visiting” with any of them? I am praying that you find him soon, that he just shows up wondering what all the fuss is about and that the Lord comforts you with the knowledge that Alice was smart enough to get out, he’ll know how to get back in when he’s ready.

Sometime between late Thursday and Friday night.
He last ate on Wednesday which means he’s getting hungry again.
[he’s on a 7 day schedule]

*However*, Ball Pythons can literally go for *months* without eating and often do for their own inexplicable reasons, with no harm to themselves.
[he’s a pig though and I can’t imagine him being very happy that supper’s not being stuck in his face right on schedule]

I have 13 other snakes and he’s not visiting any of them.

They’re all in their homes, alone, like good little serpents.

Even though their homes are all secured I checked anyway, just in case.

If he shows up, I will be so happy...and so mad at him!

I don’t know how you “ground” a snake but he’s going to be.

Snakes are a lot like cats.
They don’t have owners.
They have staff.

[and they’re just about as likely to come when you call]

:)

But, but, but... Didn't you ever read the Sherlock Holmes "Adventure of the Speckled band?" The villain *called* the snake. It happened in a short story, so it *must* be true! :-D

Offering prayers and {{{hugs}}} for your loss. He found you once....he’ll *find* you again.....is my fondest hope....for you both.

When was the last time he ate? How long can he go without food/water?

Is he nocturnal? Hope you find each other tonight!

I stopped my car and picked up a bull snake and moved him to the other side of the road once. It was a big snake.
