Hilal Sandikci preaches Islam, because she is looking for answers. She cannot stand open questions. Since Secondary School in Herten near Recklinghausen, the 23-year-old has been occupied with the Koran, which offers plenty of room for interpretation, and the religion that is so complex. Meanwhile, it has become a profession.
Hilal Sandikci was trained as a female Iman in a Turkish Cultural Centre. Since then, she teaches the Muslim faith to Turkish people. Because she wanted to preach Islam, but also in German, in parallel with her A-levels, she took the training for Imans.
"I've learned a lot from the training for imams," she says. "I have been given structures of how I respond and react to situations." They also can call on the instructor at any time and ask how what verse is to be interpreted. For Sandikci, the program is just a further step. As a further step, in autumn she will be one of the first students to study Islamic theology in Osnabrück. This is her dream.

Is an “iman” anything like an Imam?
Fatwa and death sentence in 5-4-3-2....
No. They're not all "like that." The only ones that are like that are the ones that make and enforce the freaking laws in every Muslim majority country in the world. And a goodly percentage of the general populations in those countries.
BTW, just asking: If a woman presents herself as an Imam in any Muslim country, do they leave her be, or stone her for blasphemy? (I really don't know the answer, as I've never heard of a female Imam.)
Of course, I don't know everything. I don't speak Arabic, and I was not able to get through the whole Koran in English. (And I'm sure as hell not about to invest the time learning to read it in Arabic just to find out whether all Muslims are psycho killers or only some are).
Personally, though, I find that the more I have learned about Islam since 9-11, the more completely disgusting it appears. But I'm certainly open to hearing any honest, rational argument to the contrary.
If I were rich, I would offer a $100k reward to any Muslim who could make such an argument. I'm sure I'd have to pay the reward at some point, like maybe right after Breitbart pays out the $100k to whoever can produce evidence that Tea Partiers spit at members of Congress.
I only know of two “Iman”s: One is a pretty damn hot model, the other is a wrinkly old SOB in a cowboy hat. I still listen to him on the old a.m. radio every morning tho’
Not to mention the commonness of honor killings, female stonings for trivial offenses, female genital mutilation (almost universal among African muslims), and the seldom-mentioned the high prevalence of rape of women and children.
Oh this is a good idea......./sarc Going to end badly
Exactly. She'd be wise to steer clear of...Saudi,Iran,Pakistan,Yemen,Egypt,Sudan,India....
Women can be “Imana”, prayer leaders for women. But women are not allowed to have religious superiority or legal authority over men.
She can be the equivalent of a Sunday School teacher or women’s prayer leader, but cannot issue fatwas or tell the men what to do.
Does this make her an Ima’am?

They tried in the late 1800’s to reform Islam to be more Female friendly...
[The laws of the Bahá’í Faith primarily come from the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, written by Bahá’u’lláh.[73] The following are a few examples of basic laws and religious observances.
Prayer in the Bahá’í Faith consists of obligatory prayer and devotional (general) prayer. Bahá’ís over the age of 15 must individually recite an obligatory prayer each day, using fixed words and form. In addition to the daily obligatory prayer, believers are directed to daily offer devotional prayer and to meditate and study sacred scripture. There is no set form for devotions and meditations, though the devotional prayers written by the central figures of the Bahá’í Faith and collected in prayer books are held in high esteem. Reading aloud of prayers from prayer books is a typical feature of Bahá’í gatherings.
Backbiting and gossip are prohibited and denounced.
Adult Bahá’ís in good health should observe a nineteen-day sunrise-to-sunset fast each year from March 2 through March 20.
Bahá’ís are forbidden to drink alcohol or to take drugs, unless prescribed by doctors.
Sexual intercourse is only permitted between a husband and wife, and thus premarital, extramarital and homosexual intercourse are forbidden. (See also Homosexuality and the Bahá’í Faith)
Gambling is forbidden.
Fanaticism is forbidden.
Adherence to ritual is discouraged, with the notable exception of the obligatory prayers.
Abstaining from partisan politics is required.]
Social principles
[Equality between men and women]
[As the Báb’s teachings spread, which the Islamic clergy saw as a threat, his followers came under increased persecution and torture.[12] The conflicts escalated in several places to military sieges by the Shah’s army. The Báb himself was imprisoned and eventually executed in 1850.]
Hmm, equality of women and no Fanaticism ... no wonder they killed him....
if they're going to make more Somali women like iman, this is good news!!
There isn't any. I've read the Koran (in english) and the Hadiths and they are incoherent ramblings. The Mein K has more sense (and the MK is utter rot, madman's writings).
not in India — it’s a majority Hindu state (80%)
For that matter, Bahai'ism is syncretic and equally as daft as islam, but not bloodthirsty.
