R. Albert Mohler, Jr., President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary isn't sure if Birth Control is a sin.

Watch this Vortex. The problem with Protestantism, you get to decide.

I do not see how contraception can be treated as a one size fits all. To say all forms are sin, I don’t buy it. Sure the obvious, abortion, pill and such that destroy life. Yes those are evil. Without getting into details, there are things husband and wife can do for enjoyment/bonding that limit the chance of pregnancy.

~ ~ ~

Hello,

Appreciate the reminder, for saying the “Pill” destroys life, not just the morning after Pill. People do not realize. One of the inventors of the “Pill” condemns it
now. Science shows it causes an abortion.

Contraception is always wrong, a grave sin. Abstain and only if a married couple has a very serious reason for not being open to life during a certain period, for health reasons, grave financial problems.

Not everyone has “arrived” yet....
They are still on their journey of faith, learning and growing closer to God...

You have a “choice” also.....

You can either be patient with your kindred in Christ...
Pray for them and encourage them along the way—
—OR—
Permit a “holier-than-thou” spirit use you to sow discord among the faithful...

Your choice for today is in plain sight. Pity.

~ ~ ~

Truly, speak in love but never be silent. If we keep
talking about the faith even though it isn’t understood
or accepted by non-Catholics and Catholics in name only yet, people will remember.

The Great Tribulation is prophesied to begin at the end
of 2012. The faith is going to be crucified. Come to
understand the fullness of the faith and you won’t follow
the persecutors.

The Remnant is Roman Catholic, I know I say this a lot
but it is fact. Our Lord’s prayer is going to answered,
God is going to enlighten the entire world. People ignore
now but God’s plan has always been that we all believe the
same.

“Tell me...do Catholics teach that if your brother dies childless, you should have sex with his widow to raise up children?

It made sense at that time for a tribe. It is not current morality teaching by either Catholic or Baptist that I know of...but if it was the right thing to do, then certainly having sex with your brother’s widow but avoiding conception would be a sin.”

~ ~ ~

Mr. Rogers,

You don’t believe St. Augustine in the 4th century? He stated the teaching of the faith, it hasn’t changed.

Here, better than I can explain, except the last word “vice” should read “mortal sin.”

“The biblical penalty for not giving your brother’s widow children was public humiliation, not death (Deuteronomy 25:7–10). But Onan received death as punishment for his crime. This means his crime was more than simply not fulfilling the duty of a brother-in-law.

He lost his life because he violated natural law, as Jewish and Christian commentators have always understood. For this reason, certain forms of contraception have historically been known as “Onanism,” after the man who practiced it, just as homosexuality has historically been known as “Sodomy,” after the men of Sodom, who practiced that vice (cf. Genesis 19).”

Yours is a mythical version of church history. Ignatius of Antioch refers to himself as a bishop of "the Catholic Church" in AD 107. That's 200 years before Constantine! He also calls the Eucharist the "medicine of immortality" and chastises those who don't believe that it's the body and blood of Christ. Origen and Justin Martyr agree that infant baptism is an apostolic practice. Both of them lived and died long before Constantine.

Baptists are historically descended from the Puritan movement in England and theologically from the continental Anabaptists. Both movements were Protestant.

Well, since I’m not a Calvinist, I obviously disagree with St Auggie in a few places.

Deut 25 says:

“And if the man does not wish to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders and say, ‘My husband’s brother refuses to perpetuate his brother’s name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me.’ 8 Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak to him, and if he persists, saying, ‘I do not wish to take her,’ 9 then his brother’s wife shall go up to him in the presence of the elders and pull his sandal off his foot and spit in his face. And she shall answer and say, ‘So shall it be done to the man who does not build up his brother’s house.’ 10 And the name of his house shall be called in Israel, ‘The house of him who had his sandal pulled off.’”

Do you see where that is different from having sex with your sister-in-law on the pretense of creating an heir, while making sure there will be none?

If God killed everyone who ‘spilled their seed’, very few teen boys would make it to adulthood - and those that did would be homosexuals...

“Scripture is lost on linguistic literalists.

Provided you make it there yourself which you won’t know until your particular judgment.”

And this is why I could never be a Catholic.

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

“At the outset of their marriage, they decided that they would not be telling God what they were going to do with their bodies, but determined to let Him decide. I now have 10 beautiful grandchildren, who have met with The LORD for family worship at the beginning of every morning. Then they go on about their duties in homeschooling and work.”

Would to God that was the practice of all the born again believers. Temperance is the only birth control, besides celibacy outside marriage.

I’m not a bible scholar. I don’t speak Greek or Hebrew.

I’m only pointing out that if Baptists — that if all church leadership —understood and admitted that the Pill causes abortions, the Pill would go away.

You won’t be serious, you’re making fun of St. Augustine.

Disagree, ponder, the Southern Baptist leader, he’s just not sure yet, should we do as God has commanded? Reverend Mohler’s writing is ridiculous. Fifty years now, seeing the fruit of the Pill and other forms of Birth Control.

“teen boys”... God is the judge, I can’t say, a fact about the young people today, bad catechesis. Who has taught them masturbation is a sin? There are two deaths, physical and spiritual. Lose your life, do not lose your soul.

Oh yes, the times, sodomy isn’t a sin any longer. We get to pick between two pro-sodomites for President in November. Is it HAARP and/or divine judgment that DC is dark right now?

God knows what is best, yes, believe the faith,

Amen!~~!!!@@

I will say it, only a few traditional priests shout out
the truth about contraception. People get up and walk out
of Church when it’s spoken of in a Sunday homily.

The Great Tribulation is prophesied to begin at the end of 2012.

By whom? How will we know? What event? If it doesn't happen, will the 'prophesier' and those that abet false prophecy take the OT punishment? Jer 14:14-16.

Abortion is a “grave” sin, a capital offense, and if contraception truly does abort a fetus then it would be, though that would be manslaughter if one did not know that it did.

Outside that, i do not see sexual relations as only for procreation, and think the Song of Solomon and Prv. 5:15-20 sanctifies caring romantic martial eroticism, and that the sin of Onam was selfishness, and that preventing birth by contraception would be little different than using artificial sweetener, which i also oppose, if the effects were similar.

I also think there is a difference btwn using something to prevent something like constant pain due to a disorder, and which painkiller does more good than harm, versus using steroids to unnecessarily “cheat the system.”

But killing the innocent can ever be justified, unless you are the giver of life, as He makes all things to work out for the good of those who love the Light over darkness.

Unlike Deuteronomy 25:5-10, in which the sin was a refusal to marry and raise up kids, with the penalty being public shame, in the case of Onan it was after he had married that he refused to give her children, who might inherit his estate.

Yet Onan’s death (Gn. 38-1-9) was not by Moses acting according to the laws for capital punishment, but was another case of God’s sovereign judgment, after He had executed his wicked brother Er. And both were half Canaanite, and apparently the sons of adultery.

Thus there is more here than simply a refusal to procreate, and what you are lacking and trying to extrapolate is a capital law against that, but which is missing.

Mohler is one of the good guys in the battle against the World, the Flesh and the Devil. He has spoken out clearly in defense of Christianity having a voice in the public square and he has not been intimidated by those who support the culture of death.

I think we Christians have enough true enemies without holding up to criticism fellow Christians for reason that they do not agree with us on all doctrines. He is a Baptist he is not required to believe in Catholic doctrine. Making an issue over the question of his beliefs in artificial birth control is petty and uncharitable.

This guy is on our side. Let’s not make him a target.

Hi,

The terrible fact the Pill is an abortifacient but there are other reasons Birth Control is wrong. One...

Where does it say we determine life? Only God decides life.
We cooperate with His miracle. No one likes to think about
the life they prevented from happening.

A woman is only fertile for a certain number of days, you’re
right, the marriage act is not only for procreation.

Thanks for your kind reply.

I didn’t say Mohler wasn’t a good man, He loves Our Lord
and has given his life to Him.

Still, why doesn’t he know absolutely Birth Control is
a grave sin? One comment is very noticeable in the writing, he pulls back from agreeing with the teaching of the faith.

It comes down to there is a fullness, we can know but some
Christians have rejected the faith, partly, it’s their
upbringing.

When your read the article, it’s gobilty gook, nice talk,
President Mohler doesn’t give an answer because he has no authority.

No one argues this, God wants us all to believe the same,
pride and heresy have divided Christianity, the Orthodox and
Protestantism.

I am telling you, God is going to change this, in our
lifetime and “soon” as Heaven says. For now, most important, pray about it and you can...

Read a Catholic Bible, http://www.drbo.org

read the Catechism, http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc.htmread

read the writings of the saints,

read the Protestant prophetic, http://ft111.com/eagles.htm

read current Catholic prophecy, http://catholicbinder.com or
Yahoo Groups - Seers 2

There are things prophesied, more rejection of Mary
when the 5th Marian Dogma is proclaimed because people
do not understand the co in co-Redemptrix.

Changes in the Church, never happened in 2000 years.

And to me...

Why is it so hard to accept the pinnacle of the faith, the
Holy Eucharist? Say yes in your heart, I desire the Eucharist, accept God’s gift of Himself, do not wait until the Great Warning. Remember, the anti-Christ and the evil people who are with him are going to attempt to take away the Holy Eucharist.

That itself should tell you.

Ansel: Heck, yeah.

The majority of self-described 'Catholics' --- according to some polling results --- also use birth control, get spayed, neutered and fixed, divorce and remarry, deny the True Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, and insist that their own conscience (by which they mean, "my preference") overrules the whole teaching of Truth which comes to us through the Apostles. Heck, their preference, their opinion, their "own moral compass," trumps the Father, the Son, and the Holy SPirit.

Which shows that unfaithful Catholics are, well, unfaithful Catholics. Their point of view is not that of the Church, but of the "sensus infidelium."

They have just as much authority as.... any other group of anti-Catholics.

Don't expect me to defend them.
