While not totally onboard with your rant, I am definitely in tune with the general principle.

I have become very frustrated in recent months at the anti-Mormon bigotry that has cropped up since the Romney candidacy — most especially because for literally YEARS prior to that, Free Republic had an ongoing and apparently popular LDS caucus that engendered no hatred, caused no controversy, and was utterly unremarkable — just as the Catholic caucus is today.

It’s heartbreaking. In my experience over the years, I have had a lot of dealings with Mormons. I have found them to be, for the most part, honest, hardworking, patriotic, generous to a fault, clean living, and strong supporters of the family. In short, they tend to epitomize the character traits Conservatives admire most — or say they do, anyhow.

(There’s also been a few dickheads, but every organization attracts its share of those.)

Things have sure changed since Romney. The LDS caucus is gone, as are most Mormons (or they’re keeping very quiet), jokes about magic underwear are rampant, with polygamy fighting it out for second place.

Sad.

I just did a google search (I typed in Mormonism Free Republic, and again Mormonism FreeRepublic) within the time frame of 1998 to 2004, and the first two results are anti-Mormon references. There were no further results, though that doesn’t mean there weren’t any. I then tried searching LDS Caucus Free Republic. No results at all.

What anti mormon bigotry?
There has been for years exposure of mormonism, I guess you have missed it. IE long before Romney.
But hey since he appears to be your candidate, you just weren’t paying attention before.

Why can't you say anything good about the THEOLOGY of MORMONism?

Your above statement could be said about MUSLIMs; too.

Or Hindus; or Buddhaists, or even Scientologists.
