“Treason” is nothing but a quaint word from the history books. As dead as those imperialistic, slave-holding white men who conquered this land.

I disagree. The word may have fallen from use among those who commit the act, but Treason is alive and well, rampaging through the Halls of Congress, the offices of the Executive Branch and even lurking in long robes in the most high courts.

From the top down, from the Office of the President to the lowliest servant of the people, we are betrayed by those in whom we have placed our sacred trust to safeguard the Rights and Liberty which we hold dear as Americans.

This is just the beginning, for it falls upon our shoulders, upon the American People to ferret out these malignant and evil servants, and to remove them from their offices by whatever means necessary.

We the People are the rightful conveyors of all just powers held by our Government, and it is only by our mutual consent that those powers are granted.

But our Government, and perhaps, We the People have forgotten that essential compact: that Government exists to guard our fundamental Liberty and derives its just powers only from our consent.

When our consent no longer matters, when our servants would be our masters, dictating with callous disregard for the rightful relationship between government and governed the disposition of our resources and the practice of our Rights, then the sacred compact between those who would govern and the governed has been broken.

It is not just our Right, but our solemn duty to restore that compact, or, if failing in that, replace it with one which will perform the sacred duty of safeguarding the Rights of the People.

The framework, the concepts of the Founders still prove true and have withstood the tests of human nature and been proven to be correct, despite the gradual and seductive subversions of the last century or more, which in practice have dreadfully obscured the original intent. Strip from that framework the dross and dressing of these depredations and replace the leviathan with that which will do what it was designed for--and no more.

Those who decry this, who suckle at the breast of others endeavors will proclaim these thoughts evil, but their weaning will take place, with or without that restoration of the proper balance between government and governed, and either end will not suit them. Better to have the Liberty to improve their lot than the chains which will prevent that.

Dear FRiend, I should’ve added a /sarc tag. Your post was beautifully written and well-taken. Because you are so right — treason IS, indeed, alive and well. From the Oval Office to the “halls of Justice” to the Capital Building, it thrives. BUT, for so many reasons (political correctness, cowardice, intimidation, apathy, cynacism) and/or all of the above — we will never in our lifetimes see it punished again. This open-borders, nobody-is-really-illegal, say-you’re-sorry-and-everything’s-better society will never tolerate the accusation of “treason” again. It is as archaic as the dunking of witches.
