I try to follow the teachings of Christ

You mean like these?

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

MNJohnnie, with all seriousness, do you think it is possible to criticize someone or something and still to be Christlike?

Must one be perfect, as Christ was, in order to be able to criticize?

"Judge not, that ye be not judged."

That's a frequently misunderstood scripture. Scripture commmands us to "Rebuke our neighbor frankly, so that we do not share in his sin." It tells us to warn the wicked. It tells us to discern spirits.

The kind of judging that we aren't supposed to do. Is the kind that Jonah did. (You should read it, it's short, only 4 chapters). Jonah knew that the city of Ninevah was wicked. Everyone did, including God and Jonah. That's not judging them in the context of the above scripture. That's just recognizing evil.

Jonah was unwilling to go preach to them. He was supposed to go warn them and offer them God's mercy if they repented. Jonah didn't want them to repent. He wanted them to get what was coming to them.

So what follwed is Jonah ran away, ended up in the belly of a fish for three days and got burped out back on land. Which convinced him that maybe he should go preach to Ninevah. Ninevah did repent and Jonah became angry because he had judged them unworthy of God's grace. And in chapter 4 God takes Jonah to task for judging them.

It's not ridiculing evil or the false beliefs that is judging. Prophets of God did that in scripture. It's failure to see their potential and failure to love them despite their actions. That's judging.

"So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

No one is suggesting we kill the Mormons. We're simply pointing out their errors in hopes they will see the Light.

Source?
Do you know what those verses mean?
If you read before and after, we are to judge everything against the Word of God.
Mormonism has been judged and it is found lacking.

I used to visit chat rooms, and when the topic turned to religion, liberals often tried to misuse “judge not” in order to protect false teaching. It’s only recently that I’ve seen this same thing coming from conservatives, and it’s disturbing.

The truth is that Scripture tells us TO judge, and how to do it. An example is John 7:24, when Jesus tells us, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” Matthew 7:1 is often used to try and tell Christians never to judge, when in fact, when the whole passage is read, Jesus is telling us HOW to judge (i.e., not to judge someone if you are guilty of the same thing he is doing). Also, in Luke 12, Jesus asks, “Why, even of yourselves, do you not judge what is right?”

Bottom line: we as Christians are instructed over and over to discern, to test all things-—not to throw away all discernment and abandon the truth. THESE are Christ’s teachings.

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

What's the rest of the passage go on to say? By quoting only that verse, you are essentially misquoting it. Standing alone it reads as a prohibition but if you continue on to Matthew 7:2-5, it is clear from its context that it is a precaution against hypocrisy, not a prohibition.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

You are familiar with the context of this verse, aren't you? Well, apparently not. The hypocrisy of the mob, egged on by the Scribes and Pharisees, was multi-leveled. The Scribes and Pharisees who were threatened by Jesus had been and were continuing here to trap Jesus into violating the Jewish laws. Jesus understood their motives. In addition, to add to their hypocrisy, the accusers stated they caught her in the very act of adultery. So where is the other party who should also be punished?

If one is not allowed to criticize, should you not condemn Jesus who criticized the Scribes and Pharisees continually? Remember Jesus called them vipers, hypocrites, white-washed tombs, etc. What about Paul, the other New Testament writers, the Old Testament prophets, John the Baptist, etc. who aggressively criticized false teachers?

Most all, even unbelievers know “Judge not lest ye be judged” as spoken by our Lord in Matthew 7:1; but not many know the other teaching of the Lord.

The Saviour taught: “Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” (John 7:24)

The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:1-7 giving us intructing judging: “Do you not know the saints shall judge the world, and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge in these smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more that pertain to this life?”

Just another MORMONism apologetic wannabe trying to get folks from pointing out ERROR in MORMONism.

Judge NOT???

Sigh............

Jesus has commanded us to judge!

“Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?... And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?... Do you not know that we shall judge angels?... How much more, things that pertain to this life?.. If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge ? (1 Corinthians 6:1-5).

Many commands of God require the exercise of righteous judgment.

“But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us” (2 Thessalonians 3:6).

“And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother” (2 Thessalonians 3:14,15).

“Teach and exhort these things. If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wrangling of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself” (2 Timothy 6:2b-5).

“Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple” (Romans 16:17,18).

All these commands require the careful exercise of righteousness judgment. Do not be deceived by smooth words and flattering speech. Beware of wolves who come to you with a sheep’s skin.

We must be careful not to make unqualified judgments. But we must judge appropriately when commanded to do so.

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.  (John 7:24).

“Judge not, that ye be not judged.”

Such irony.
