More accurately, it is Christ acting through the priest that mediates our forgiveness with the God the Father.

Actually there are a couple two (that adds up to 4) many words in that:

Now if it makes you more comfortable to go throuh one of your priests for forgivness of sins, no problem. God will honor the sincerity of that venue.

Non Catholic Christians take God at his word that we can go directly to Jesus.

Attempting to convert Christians from their personal relationship with Jesus through being born again to the zigs and zags of unnecessary rituials is not going to produce the desired results.
