They are a cult
I’ve known my friend since college. He’s Catholic (not practicing) and going through tough times right now. Two of them come by almost everyday. They know I’m Southern Baptist and sort of treat me with kid gloves when I come over.

They are a cult pure and simple. What your friend should be worried about is a one way ticket into the place we all want to avoid...hell.
If he really wants to be spiritual, tell him to look up a christian church that teaches on the gospel in the bible, not a bunch of man made crap.
his mother has little to do with him....disavows him because he doesn't still "belong"....its a sadness that he carries his whole life IMO....she wouldn't even come to his wedding.....
