Cherry picking aint scriptural.

Hmmm. Let's see...

Ephesians 1:3-5 :"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according the purpose of his will,"

And check out verse 11 also.... "In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,"

Romans 8:28-29: "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers."

Romans 9:10-18: "and not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad--in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works, but because of him who calls--she was told "The older will serve the younger." As it is written, "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means! For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills."

From Christ himself: John 10:25-30: "Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe. the works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one."

John 6:44: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day."

That's just a few "cherries" -- but they're mighty good ones.

Golly! A half dozen verses that reference something about election, vs 500 verses about the role of faith and believing. Hmmm...

“No one has ever been up to Heaven except the Son of Man who came down from Heaven. The Son of Man must be lifted above the heads of men—as Moses lifted up that serpent in the desert—so that any man who believes in him may have eternal life. For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that every one who believes in him shall not be lost, but should have eternal life. You must understand that God has not sent his Son into the world to pass sentence upon it, but to save it—through him. Any man who believes in him is not judged at all. It is the one who will not believe who stands already condemned, because he will not believe in the character of God’s only Son. This is the judgment—that light has entered the world and men have preferred darkness to light because their deeds are evil. Anybody who does wrong hates the light and keeps away from it, for fear his deeds may be exposed. But anybody who is living by the truth will come to the light to make it plain that all he has done has been done through God.”

We are chosen IN HIM.

Ephesians 1:13 - “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit...”

Job 1:1 There was a man in the Land of Uz, whose name was Job.

The Calvinist presupposition will mess up your reading of scripture. Those passages should serve more as an encouragement to God’s children, that God will do what He promised, that we will be conformed into Christ’s image. It says nothing about whether or not He intends for all men to be saved.

John 6:44: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day."

I like these:

John 12:32 -- "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." (Jesus was lifted up (crucified) and draws all men. Most choose not to come.)

John 5:40 -- "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." (They choose not to come.)

1 Timothy 2:3,4 -- "For this is good an acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (God wants all men be saved, but most choose not to.)

Acts 7:51 -- "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your Fathers did, so do ye." (Most resist, choosing not to come to the savior.)
