My prayers to you and your family in this difficult time. Understand that God does not truly take anybody, because that would imply He wasn’t with them in the first place. When their time comes, He calls them home to Him.
Rest assured that your nephew is in His presence now. He has become one with the universe and all that is great. It is tragic that he died so young. We should not pretend to understand why these things happen, but know that while the physical body dies, the soul is eternal. Everything you loved about your nephew hasn’t died, and will never die. Only the vessel that carried it has. You will see him again, in the next life that awaits.

My advice to you is to talk to your pastor or priest. They can be very comforting in times of grief. I’m not sure what your financial situation is, but doing some good for others can help to cleanse some of the blue emotions you’re feeling. Donate to cancer charities, or perhaps do a little volunteer work. Your nephew is in God’s hands now, but your hands can still do good in this life. Do not let the grim realities of our earthly nature hang heavy on you. Live life as you would have wanted your nephew to. To the fullest.

Again, my prayers are with you. All the best.

Saying Hail Marys for you and your loved ones. It’s terrible to see a child pass on.

Prayers for you and your family. At 10 years of age he was not at the age of responsibility {knowledge} but rather he was a child. His suffering is over, he is healed, and he is with The Lord.

BTW your body and mind need rest. The mind plays bad tricks when you are tired and things will look the worst.

Hold on to your faith, be strong. Your nephew is with our heavenly Father, he is now way beyond perfectly healthy and his situation is wonderful!

For those left behind, he is not gone, he has just gone on ahead. When it’s our turn to go, the loved ones who have went ahead of us give us someone to go to, making it easier for us to leave.

I’ll be praying for you and yours.

...”I don’t understand why God takes the innocent”...

I don’t know, either, Julie..That question is the only thing which caused me to question my faith in my 20s. If we could see God’s tapestry, we would understand. Try to imagine your nephew in heaven in such peace and joy that he would never return to earth, even if he could. We will pray for you and your family.

Who could know more about love than an innocent? Has never been jilted or jaded, not trusting a relationship because his last girlfriend or wife the family warned him against did him wrong. On the other hand, they’ll miss his future crushes, him going head over heels for his first girlfriend, his marriage and children.

You have a nephew watching over you. And trust me... Our Lord would answer his request before he would a sinner like I have been, had I passed.

Remember his life...

Thanks God to have had him and know him...

Think of all those who chose abortion, whether in hard situations or not, who never had the joy to see their child grow and love them.

Thank God for the graces given and choosing your family.

Yes it’s hard, bitter, incapable to understand.

Along the way some of you will come upon a parent who’s going through the same thing, or an adult that’s going through it. They may not have God and the strength/courage to make it through. Then you’ll see why a little more.

Can you imagine going through it without God... never knowing him at all?

Cherish those that are still here. Go out of your way to save and make time to spend with them... Whether on the phone, by letter or little surprise gifts.

Life is indeed precious. Your nephew is proof of that.

You have my prayers and an ear whenever you need it.

I have a child who has had many operations. I was told she wouldn’t live 24 hours when born; She’s flat-lined three times and was brought back. I’ve seen many families lose their children and all crushed my heart. My youngest is now a teenager driving me crazy (pretty normal, right). So I thank God for you posting this; It gives me the strength to love her more, maybe listen more and pray more.

Off topic: My daughter is obsessed with visiting Canada...

You’ll have her prayers as well.

Never fall in love? Are you too exhaustedly crazy? He’s knowing the fullest greatest God-designed love, greater than even your love for him!

We’ll pray a rosary for him and his lesser-love experiencing heavy-loss experiencing family still down here. Their work for God in this world continues.

Into your arms Jesus.

O Lord who watches over children in the present life and in the world to come because of their simplicity and innocence of mind, abundantly satisfying them with a place in Abraham’s bosom, bringing them to live in radiantly shining places where the spirits of the righteous dwell: receive in peace the soul of Your little servant James, for You Yourself have said, “Let the little children come to Me, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Amen.

Julie-I am so sorry.

I understand your pain and also your question. I too lost a nephew from cancer when he was 11 yrs old about 5 years ago. The pain is awful but there is also a joyfulness that you know your nephew is seeing the face of God and he knows the true intense all-enveloping love of God right now. Sometimes I wonder if such an intense grief is also an intense joy that we just can't understand in our simple heart and mind. Someday we will understand. Meanwhile you have to hold on to the fact that your nephew is experiencing such joy and love. Hugs and love and prayers to you and your family. It is hard but you make it though.

So sad to lose a loved one so young. I have no doubt that he is safe forever in the arms of Jesus...but prayers for you and the rest of the family for peace and comfort. Some day we will be able to ask Him all of these questions.

Our good compassionate God even allowed his own Son to die. Free will requires He allows things to happen here outside of Heaven. After life here, there is eternity to enjoy the absence of sin and pain and tears. Acquire the big picture. Celebrate the arrival of your innocent nephew into Heaven.
