I don’t even know the guy myself only that he’s some Protestant preacher. Have no idea what he is famous for preaching. I do know that suicide touches every member of the family and can’t help but wonder if they did not see any warning signs.
I heard on the news that this son has suffered from depression for years and has previously tried suicide. In most cases, and especially this one, if a chronically-suicidal person makes up his mind to do it, there is NOTHING anyone can do to stop it. Eventually, he will be successful. It is heart-wrenching for family members and friends who try to help but cannot.
Public speculation that comes anywhere close to insinuating that someone could/should have "seen the warning signs so they could stop it" are extremely hurtful to this man's family, as well as anyone reading it who is a suicide survivor (family member/friend).
