Only a very limited government comes closest to a neutral government. I doubt that a government can function without making religious legislation. I think a "content neutral" government is impossible and that the establishment of religion through legislation is inevitable. Secular liberalism pretends to be content neutral--why should anyone else?
“Very limited government” sounds like a great idea! Liberals BELIEVE in Big Government, so that they can control how everyone behaves.
They are like children who run to the parent to settle a dispute with a sibling.
Instead, liberals should have to acknowledge that their perspective is not the Only One. They ask for Tolerance, and then make a criminal of anyone who disagrees with their description of acceptable speech, for example. Just ask Mark Steyn about the lawsuits he has had to fight, re words he has written.
