Kevin Durant, the 24-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder star forward, recently shared his love for Jesus Christ and baptism story at Hillsong Church in New York City.

Durant may play basketball in Oklahoma City, but the basketball star revealed why he wanted Hillsong Church pastor Carl Lentz to guide him spiritually. Durant admitted that he was drawn to Lentz because of the way he treated people and liked the fact that the pastor was unfazed by his celebrity.

"I thought you were weird first of all," Durant said while visiting Hillsong and speaking at the service last Sunday. "Where I come from pastors are always in nice suits but you just dress like me. I really appreciate it…"

The basketball player also had Lentz by his side when signing a sports management deal with rapper Jay-Z. While speaking at Hillsong Church, Durant also spoke about his baptism experience where Lentz, his grandmother and mother were present.

"When I came out of the water, I just felt different. Basketball is so important to me and I carry that emotion with me all of the time and before that I would be so mad at the smallest things," Durant revealed to Hillsong Church attendees. "My coaches, my teammates, my fans. After that, I was just so positive. Showing God his grace…"

The Christian NBA player who has been known to carry a Bible to games in his backpack previously admitted that he is on a mission to become a better Christian.

"I just want to grow spiritually with the Lord. I'm keeping strong at it, just trying to make my walk with faith a little better," Durant told the press after a game during the 2011-2012 season. "That's making me a better person, opening my eyes to things and I'm also maturing as a person. I'm just trying to grow."

Wait - he sounds like Tim Tebow without all the negative publicity - funny thing is, they both love the same Jesus who died for each and every one of us out of such amazing Love!

Great story! Pastor Carl Lentz is a down-to-earth dude too. Met him in Raleigh at a pastors conference.
