New sex abuse crisis in Scottish Catholic church
The Observer ^ | 7/27/2013 | Catherine Deveney

The Catholic church in Scotland faces a fresh sex-abuse crisis involving some of the country's senior clerics. The Observer has seen documents suggesting a scandal similar to the one that led to the resignation of Cardinal Keith O'Brien as Archbishop of Edinburgh and St Andrews.

As a seminarian, a priest known as "Father Michael", who wishes to remain anonymous while an appeal to Rome is made, said he was sexually assaulted by a parish priest, Father Paul Moore. Father Michael said the church failed to deal appropriately with his complaint over a 17-year period, and that he is now being ousted from the church while, he feels, his abuser is being protected.

Pope Francis does not have the luxury to be non judgmental. Either all homosexuals are purged from the clergy or there will be more grave harm to the Church. His papacy will be a detrimental failure if he fails to take definitive action. Make celibacy optional. It is the portal that homosexuals use to enter the priesthood. May be politically incorrect to state but child molestation is extremely common amongst homosexuals.

The Catholic Church is an abomination. Should we really be surprised when these things are found to be pervasive when they won’t even allow their priests to be married?

Moral equivalency is not a good argument.

“The Catholic Church is an abomination.”

As a young altar boy I was abused by one of our parish priests. My belief in God and the Catholic Church never wavered as I was taught early on that the Church was run by fallible men in an extremely fallible world.
