Bringing a spiritual indictment against American Catholicism [don ye the asbestos suits]
Sarasota Catholic Examiner ^ | August 19, 2013 | Thomas Yanoti

According to Pew Research statistics, 23.9% of Americans are Catholics. Basically, one in four Americans supposedly walks the American landscape with the Eucharist in their heart, the Scriptures on their lips, and the Apostles mission in their plans. Think again.

"They were quick to stray from the way their fathers had taken, and did not follow their example of obedience to the commandments of the LORD." Judges 2:11-19

Out of this very influential voter block came a Catholic majority which twice voted for Barack Obama. Understandably, voting for a Presidential candidate isn't a simple proposition, as candidates on both sides offer strengths and weaknesses. Yet, the Catholic decision to endorse Obama as President ratified the American Catholic movement as freely, and willfully, moving toward apostasy. If this sounds harsh, and overtly right wing, please feel free to dissect the political implications, and tell me where the apostasy, and idolatry, doesn't exist. Under the Obama administration, though we have seen a 5% dip in abortions--largely due to individual states abortion restrictions--the abortion industry has received more federal support--both fiscal and emotional--than can be recounted in recent memory. Never before has a President overtly attacked religious freedom as has been instituted, as of the first of this month, in the HHS mandate. Gay marriage, moreover, has reached historical precedents through a left-radical push, endorsed by an administration which is overtly against established religious authority. And contraception, in Plan B, has become more than a moral issue, as it has been inculcated into a larger political battering ram, tearing down Constitutional and moral-ethical American Tradition.

Recapping, a majority of American Catholics have endorsed abortion, religious persecution, gay 'marriage,' contraception, and government tyranny.

Long ago, American Catholics joined the ranks of the Democratic party in order to fight for fair labor practices in necessary union

“Asbestos suit”? Who do you expect to arrive at FR with a flamethrower: Nancy Pelosi?

Apparently a majority of American Catholics are following the wrong voice.

John 10:27
MY sheep listen to MY voice; I know them, and they follow ME.

It’s a fair cop. But the author forgot, “enabling and encouraging the invasion of America by millions of ravenous locusts, because they happen to be nominal adherents to the Cult of Rome.”

And the Catholic neighbor of mine wholeheartedly endorses ever democratic candidate and proudly proclaims she is a liberal.

She told me not long ago, that she knows what the church teaching is on abortion and that she is as pro-life as they come, BUT, she doesn’t think the government has any right to tell a woman what to do with her body.

She supports gay marriage and attended and lauded one in her own family recently.

And this from a decades old, lifelong practicing Catholic. She goes to church several times a week and I see it myself, so I KNOW she does it.

It is no more accurate to speak of “American Catholics” than it is to speak of “American whites.”

Some are as described in this article. Some are not.

We Catholics are VERY aware of the lack of true conversion in the hearts of those of our brothers and sisters who identify themselves as “Catholic.”

At present we are praying for them like crazy...and preparing to evangelize them!

Allow me to clarify:

We Catholics are VERY aware of the lack of true conversion in the hearts of those of our brothers and sisters who identify themselves as “Catholic” but who do not practice their faith and/or who have had no personal encounter with Christ.

It's not just Catholics. Most self proclaimed Christians in this country are going hell. Jesus himself said: Matthew 7:21-23

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

It's not about having the proper Christian behavior. It's about having an intimate relationship with God through Jesus alone without which no one gets to heaven. (ref John 17:1-3)

The day may come soon when the AMerican lib-Catholics schism and break away ... start to live in their own church. American Catholics, distinct from Roman Catholics.

1-this is not good. We’d only have another lefty church and they would get worse. ............ They’d be Episcopalians by a different name.
2-Nobody wants the Hispanics to leave and go with the liberals.
3-Not sure if Hispanic Pentecostals vote just as heavily for Obama
4-I am not the guest preacher.
5-Obama voters are allowed to go to church. Don’t send them to the Unitarians

Catholics are just people. Some people are stupid. Therefore some Catholics are stupid. Why would anyone blast Catholics for doing stupid things sometimes?

At least they VOTED.

Catholics didn't vote? I thought it was the Evangelicals that didn't show up?

>>>”It’s not just Catholics. “

Yep. I think you could substitute non-Catholics for Catholics in the article.

This thread is the perfect context in which to quote the saying: "A fish starts rotting at the head," by which I mean that the moral inconsistency of retail Catholics exists primarily because of the moral inconsistency of her leaders, by which I mean: lay-ministers, priests, and bishops. It appears that sometime back in the late 1960s or so, church leaders stopped leading, and began to engage in pandering to people's worst instincts. I know that the Popes have always seemed to hold the line; however, all the folks who supposedly "support" the Pope (that is, the Curia on down) all too often stretch the meaning of the word support beyond all recognizing due to their rather eclectic ways of interpreting the Pope's words. So while the very top of the Catholic Church, the Pope, is the highest-caliber Catholic, the same cannot be said of his "assistants" inasmuch as they all too often regard themselves and mini-Popes in their own right. And the theological straying only gets worse as one moves physically further away from Rome.

We know, the other 76% of the population can't legally vote, they're only allowed to point fingers and blather about why they wouldn't vote even if they could.

Sigh

Pray that some day we can amend the Constitution to allow non-Catholics to vote so the quarter of so-called Catholics who vote democrap won't be the majority.
