As said, commemorating the birth of Christ (for which Dec.is unlikely) as the Lord leads is one thing; borrowing a day specific to the pagans and Christianizing it as an annual feast say is another, and allows it to easily be reclaimed for idolatry .

Which is exactly what we see happening to Christmas these days.

Indeed, What if good king Josiah had "Christianized" rather than destroying the following items:

"And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth–el." (2 Kings 23:4)
