My house becomes a church every time I have Bible study here. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is as close to assembling like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ together for fellowship and study as the first members of the Body of Christ must have been, I think. The emphasis is on the Word of God, not pretty, ornate surroundings. More people should try this. It could change the way you see the church. The true church.

You are the church, smvoice, and your home is where the church gathers to study the bible.

This is so true. There is not even a word such as "church" in the Scriptures. Somewhere along the line, overly needy men (yes, blame the men) made up a new word to justify their need for an "organization" to which they could ascribe power, authority, prestige, and (you guessed it) MONEY. Today, you see where this has led.

But, as you said, the assembling of Jesus' body is simply a gathering of the elect and you are doing that in your home. Paul would give you a "good job". Fantastic stuff. Thanks for sharing this.

I'm assuming your home has central heating, perhaps air conditioning, insulated walls, etc., you sometimes utilize an electric lamp to read by, and the Bible you read is type set.

Not one of those things is in the Bible.

And I'll bet your house is a veritable palace compared to the primitive communal houses the early Christians worshiped in. Since when did we start to need all these luxuries to worship God?

My, how far off track we have gotten.
