Ritual sacrifice of animals is practiced in every corner of the world, the reason for the act and benefit for the community are good reasons. They however are allowed to do them so your religious practices can be done unmolested by the state. They do break the chickens neck with the picking them up by the head then they become MEAT in its various forms.
