Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Wonderful,
How Majestic,
How Excellent is Your Most Holy Name!
Our Hearts overflow with praise and Wonder at Your Glory!
You Alone Are Worthy of Our Love and Adoration,
You Alone Are Worthy Of Worship,
For You Alone Are The Omnipotent,
Eternal and Omniscient,
Everlasting and Almighty God!

Abba, Father,
Thank You For Designing Us The way You Did.
Thank You For Creating Men and Women,
And The Institution of Marriage.
Thank You for protecting women with this Institution,
So that, at least in the Judeo-Christian Tradition,
A Man can't just throw a woman out for any reason.
Thank You for providing structure for the family
For Making Marriage Sacred,
And For Making the Family the Basic unit of Civilization.

We pray for the Repentance, Restoration, and Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.
We Pray For Families,
that They will prosper and Grow in You
We Pray For Children,
That They will Be Raised to Love You

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Even Jesus Himself said that this was a difficult teaching on Divorce. Still, we must remember that, in the Ancient World, women were considered property rather than an equal partner in Marriage. And "Easy Divorce" made it worse for women, rather than better. This miserable state of servitude still exists in the Middle East, and a woman can be "divorced" for any reason. There are even "temporary marriages" for the convenience of the man, and the discarded wife has no recourse except to become a prostitute.
The teaching of Jesus on this subject elevates the status of women in Marriage as a Holy Estate, ordained by God since the Beginning, between One Man and One Woman, and Inviolate. Divorce is very serious, and only in extreme situations. Yet, Jesus says also that this is a hard teaching, and only for those who are called of God. Even the Disciples have a hard time with it. The idea of a woman being an equal partner in a marriage, who can't be "Thrown out with yesterday's trash" was completely alien to their culture, and was part of the birth of what we call "Western Civilization".
