ELCA Repents for Holding Biblical View
Exposing the ELCA ^ | 9/30/13 | Dan Skogen

Posted on 10/02/2013 2:40:58 AM PDT by rhema

Last week the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America installed Rev. Guy Erwin as Bishop of the Southwest California Synod. Rev. Erwin is the first practicing homosexual to be a bishop in the ELCA. The ELCA's Living Lutheran website reported that there were at least 10 ELCA bishops in attendance. (see here) Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson, the highest ranking ELCA leader, delivered the sermon at the installation. Bishop Hanson's sermon made it clear that there is no more debate in the denomination about whether homosexuality is sinful or godly. He then proclaimed the ELCA's repentance for once holding the Biblical position that homosexuality is sinful.

Below are some quotes and my thoughts from the ELCA leader's sermon.

Presiding Bishop Hanson's sermon makes it clear, if it wasn't already, that the Biblical position on homosexuality will not be allowed, respected or tolerated anymore. It is full speed ahead and every ELCA entity will be (has been) pushing, justifying and indoctrinating its membership into their worldly view on homosexuality.

2 Timothy 3:1-9
But know this, that in the last days grievous times will be upon us.
For men will be lovers of themselves, money-lovers, braggarts, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  without natural feeling, unyielding, slanderers, without self-control, savage, haters of good,
betrayers, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Yahweh,  having a form of righteousness, but denying the power of it; even turn away from these.  For of these are those creeping into houses and leading silly women captive, the ones having been heaped with sins, being led away by various lusts,  always learning, but never being able to come to a full knowledge of the truth.  But in the way Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so also these withstand the truth, men having been corrupted in mind, found worthless concerning the faith. But they will not go further, for their foolishness will be plain to all, as also that of those became.

Isaiah 5:20
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter

Proverbs 17:15
Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— the LORD detests them both

These people can call themselves whatever they want. It’s clear they are simply immoral pagans.

There are still many Lutherans in America that hold true to Biblical fundamentals, and would easily fall into the ‘extreme’ category by most of mainstream reformed synods. The WELS and the CLC come to mind.

There seems to be a simple fact that all the different liberal theologians forget; its not up to them.

The ELCA-affiliated Lutheran church I was confirmed in began to drift leftward beginning in the 1960's, and now has a rather large building which is utilized by fewer and fewer people. Lots of "diversity," earth stewardship" and even "interpretive dance," but little Biblical teaching (it isn't even Jesus Lite anymore according to those who have recently left the place).

The ELCA was already heading for a cliff, what with the gradual natural attrition of gullible old folks with assets the "shepherds" can fleece, and Mark Hanson's heresy is just a bit more pressure on the gas pedal. There's going to be a lot of run-down buildings and sites available in a buyer's market.

Another reason we left the ELCA church. Bad policy there.

What is all the excitement about??

This faggot bishop has just stated what ELCA based their decision on when they allowed Homosexual in the leadership.

What does anyone expect a faggot to say? Of course he believes this way and anyone who stays in his Church believes the same way.

They may as well toss the Bible out the window and no longer read it, because if they do not believe part of it they do not believe any of it.

Practicing? How much practice does he need? Are there special techniques known only to initiates? If he hasn’t mastered the material perhaps they’ve chosen the wrong shepherd.

there. Fixed it for you. If they are not Christian, and any church accepting homosexuality is not Christian, then they are not Protestant either.

The Missouri Synod is quite conservative, also.

I grew up in an ELCA’S church and have seen the steady march to hell over the years by listening to my parents talk about the policy changes. It is sad to see them holding on to their membership and actually buying in to what the church says about homosexuality, etc...

Yeah, the authority of the Pope sure has kept all nominal Catholics in line. When pro-abortion politicians are made to answer by the Magisterium for their sponsorship of infanticide, get back to us.
