Having reminded ourselves of our former, unregenerate state, we are now ready to consider the great things God has done for us in His grace, saving our souls and making us whole. This listing is by no means original. For example, Lewis Sperry Chafer has a similar listing in his book entitled Salvation. Also this listing is by no means complete or exhaustive. We have listed 215 things but there are more. You can add to this list through your own study of the Scriptures as you find other things that are true of you now that you are saved. This study can be used as a devotional aid. One or two of the following points could be considered each day as you meditate on the riches of God's grace. Consider these as "SPIRITUAL VITAMIN PILLS" and take one or two a day! As you go through the day remind yourself of who you are and what you have in Christ! As a saint, live saintly! As a child of God, so walk in a way that would honor your heavenly Father! "To God be the glory! Great things He hath done!" Don't forget WHO YOU ARE! Consider the following:

It is great to have a positive hopeful attitude and that must be tempered with a full spectrum attitude that also seeks to see real danger for what it is! See reference below and “God help us!”

http://www.catholic.com/quickquestions/doesnt-1-john-511-13-prove-once-saved-always-saved

Full Question
The Bible speaks of believers as having eternal life now (1 Jn 5:11-13). This proves “once saved, always saved.”

Answer

Sometimes Scripture speaks of believers possessing eternal life now, but it also talks about it as something in the future.

When eternal life is described as a present possession of Christians, this is an example of what theologians call “realized eschatology.” This means that Christians participate now in a limited way in what they will experience more fully in the Kingdom of God to come. It doesn’t necessarily imply those who have so partaken of the Kingdom and its gifts can’t be lost (Heb 3:14; 6:4-6).

The Bible speaks of eternal life as something future (Mt 19:29; Mk 9:43-47; Ti 1:2; 3:7; Jude 21) and based upon our fidelity, by God’s grace, to his commandments (Mt 19:16-17; 25:46; Jn 3:36; Rom 2:6-10; 1 Tm 6:18-19; Jas 1:12; 2 Tm 2:12).

My dear friend, I hope you make it on your own.... but that is not God’s way or Jesus would not have to die for our sins. He is off the cross at the Right hand of Almighty God (Psalm 110:1, Heb. 1:2-3). We work out our salvation because we possess it and are saved.. not to be saved.

“For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Rom. 10:2-4

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” 1 John 5:13. That you may “KNOW” and that ye “Have” (possessive)

Thanks for your comments.

“We work out our salvation because we possess it and are saved.. not to be saved.”
Where in scripture or early tradition is this written?! (You Protestants sometimes provide pretty weak proofs for your assertions that scripture means something that it may not, while priding yourselves in your exclusive use of scripture. Besides, remember the warnings in the Apocalypse about whoever changes or adds to one letter of what is written!)
Paul doesn’t clarify it so but he in another place says to work out your salvation in fear and trembling! In fear and trembling! Nor does it say in scripture or early tradition that “that ye may know that ye have eternal life” refers to something that cannot yet be lost again. RATHER: See Saint John’s (an apostle who actually walked with Jesus and was the most loved by Jesus apostle) warnings in the Apocalypse (Revelation): Apocalypse 2:5-6 Jesus says that you have lost your first love. And to “repent…or else” to believers. You know, if there is ambiguity in a warning it’s far safer to assume the worst case and move forward on that basis striving for salvation then it is to assume the best. For example, if someone screams “the building is about to blow up!” and you choose to doubt it and favor the hope that it’s just some kook who is wrong, and if you’re wrong, your dead. But if you believe the guy and hustle out but it turns out he really is just a kook, and you’re wrong, you haven’t lost much in the matter, just a little time and embarrassment. Fear and trembling includes not trusting yourself too much. Saints with amazing virtue and faith have expressed some levels of mistrust in their final destiny including Saint Paul the apostle!
With the Catholic sacrament of confession we get more of a sense of our guilt and need of repentance from numerous actual sins which we and you can fall into and thus fall out of grace with God. I really often don’t hear enough call to repentance by the Protestants such as was issued by John the baptizer and Jesus and the apostles. I’m talking about balance. I hear a lot more about assurance and that Jesus died for you than that we ought to fear God as well.
One other example for now is found in the final judgment. The sheep and the goats: They are judged by their works, not by “Did they say the sinner’s prayer with a lot of conviction at some point in their life?”
That is not to say that your works save you, but that they illustrate your faith in and thus obedience to Christ Jesus our savior. “Do you do the same works that I Jesus performed? Then you must have proper faith! Welcome to eternal life!”

Where in scripture or early tradition is this written?!

I can answer that pretty easily. It begins at Genesis 1:1 and ends at Revelation 22:21.

But, if you want the Readers digest condensed version, see:

Romans 7 1 Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.

4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For apart from the law, sin was dead. 9 Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10 I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. 11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. 12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.

13 Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! Nevertheless, in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it used what is good to bring about my death, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Romans 8: 8 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ...

Eternal life and salvation are two different descriptors. Another pertinent descriptor is Inheritance.

We can’t lose our eternal life, but we can lose parts of our inheritance which was created in eternity past, awaiting to be awarded at the bema seat.

Our salvation also continues to be worked out until we receive our resurrection bodies.
