are you going to take advice about being a dad from a guy who never has been one? But he speaks with total authority and thinks he just knows better than you do?

if you already don’t have much respect for him because the sermons are shallow and not substantial? Don’t think he really knows too well what he’s talking about?

If you think he’s gay? Or you know he leads a life that’s insulated from the lives married people lead?

first hand experience is important in CREDIBILITY of the person offering the advice. It lets the person getting the advice know the person offering the advice really may have dealt with similar things and aren’t just talking out of their hiney.

“are you going to take advice about being a dad from a guy who never has been one? “

Pointless distinction. Clergy minister to people. What does being a dad or an auto mechanic for that matter have to do with the operators understanding of human fault or foible? The Human Heart does not differ across gender or occupation. A dad is just a man, he is not rare or special in any way (except perhaps to his kid).

In the matter of homos I wouldn’t listen to a word any sexual deviate had to say. A perverted heart is no source of example or instruction.

If he has heard from hundreds or even thousands of dads and children concerning their problems in their relationships, he might know a thing or two about the subject. On the other hand, a man can be a father and still give crappy advice, especially if he is a crappy father.

——————————Some of the pastors i have saw, fresh out of the college they went to learn a profession, gets a job preaching for hire a Gospel in which they are not even old enough to have lived, or even an older man who has never held down a job.

Most people do not trust a politician who has never held down a job so why trust a preacher for hire?

That is what i would compare to a man having no children giving advice to a dad.

Of course we know about common sense, but that goes along with experience, it does not replace it.
