**“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. The same was in the beginning with God. ALL THINGS WERE MADE BY HIM; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” John 1:1-3**

“THE WORD WAS GOD”

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the WORDS of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him”. (from John the baptist, in John 3:34)
Jesus Christ declared the source of the word and words (actually there are others that should be included, but the Son made it clear in the following ones whose ‘words’ they were):

“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak....whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.” Jn 12:49

“..the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” Jn 14:10

“He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is NOT mine, but the Father’s which sent me.” Jn 14:24

“..thine they were, and thou gavest them me, and they have kept THY word. Now they have known that ALL things whatsoever thou hast given me ARE OF THEE. For I have given unto them the WORDS which thou gavest me; and they have received them, “ Jn 17:6-8

“I have given them thy WORD;......Sanctify them through thy truth: THY WORD is truth.” Jn 17:14,17

There is so much more, but I’m out of time. I have not a smart phone, so therefore I can contiue this discussion about Jn 1:1-3 when I return in a couple of days.

Just as you and your word are not two separate and distinct persons. God the Father is not separate from his Word. But, since God the Father is a Spirit (Jn 4:23,24), he chose, in his great plan, to make an oh so perfect, walking, talking expression of himself. He even gave this physical expression a mind and soul that could be tempted in all points, yet without sin. This man told all, that the Father was in him, and he in the Father.

Why did I stay a Catholic for many years? Because I knew of nothing other then Catholicism. I am thankful to the Catholic religion for many things...introduction to the Lord, teaching me morals, right from wrong, good education (even when to all girl Catholic High School)etc.

However- it wasn’t until I attended a Protestant Church with a friend, listened to the Pastor, attended Bible studies and learned that I could have a personal relationship with the Lord. Growing up Catholic we were taught rules to obey, about Mortal and Venial sins and “fear” and “guilt”. Do you know when I was kid when it came time to go to confession(mandatory) you had to confess sins. I didn’t have anything to confess at age 7 this particular day so I actually made up something because of the “fear”. Whenever I sinned, so much guilt and self loathing, thinking I was not worthy of God’s love. And I am not alone as a former Catholic growing up feeling like this- met many Protestants who felt this same way (former Catholics).

Believe it or not- when I go to my church, I feel the presence of the Lord..so much, it brings tears to my eyes. But when I go to Catholic church, I feel like I am doing everything by remote. Kneel, stand, sit, kneel stand sit...I don’t feel the fear or the guilt in my church....I feel loved, welcomed, I feel God’s grace and mercy...I have called on the Holy Spirit 3 times in the past couple of years and he came to me and I felt so much peace...and the worry and heartache was lifted off my shoulders.

Sorry for the bashing— but you were bashing Protestants, we all believe in the Lord in the end right?

You were a Catholic for the vast majority of your life and from what you are saying knew nothing of your own faith. Now you bash Catholics like a lifelong protestant. Strange to say the least.

That was my experience of the Catholic Faith. It was real, it was fact. I knew my faith and decided I didn’t believe in their teachings.

And what exactly did you do to so many people here on this board who were not of your faith? You bashed them and you NEVER apologized. You bash Protestants like a life-long Catholic. Put that in your hat and smoke it...

**“For there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” I John 5:7**

I’m a father, a son, and a husband, ‘and these three are one’. Note: those are titles, and not names.

My boss is founder, president, and fellow worker of our company, ‘and these three are one’, but none of those are his name.

“Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, and COMETH down from the FATHER of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will”.. (remember..”not my will but thine be done”)..”begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” James 1:17,18

Father is the divine source. He made his only begotten Son (the firstborn of every creature), and sent him to do his will. The Holy Ghost “proceedeth from the Father”. (Jn 15:26) “..how much more shall the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” Luke 11:13

You’re as old as I am and I’m in my 60s, and you claim you stayed a Catholic until a few years ago but decided when you were about 60 years old you “didn’t believe in their teachings”. I can see what you are attempting to do. Don’t bother me anymore with your childish antics. I don’t wish to take this any future. End it now or I will consider your replies as harrasment.

I’m really sorry that you are using Scripture to argue against a belief that Christians have held since the earliest centuries. In fact, it sounds as though you believe the heresy of Ariansim, which was refuted at the Council of Nicea in 325.

Just because a majority reach an opinion on anything, doesn’t make them right. The majority saw to it that Aaron made a golden calf. The majority’s lifestyle in the ten tribes brought Assyria to conquer them. Ditto for Judah.

The majority supported the crucifixtion of the Christ.

Jesus said that ‘few there be that find it’.

The Christ said, “I am come in my Father’s NAME, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his OWN name, him ye will receive.” John 5:43 Jesus Christ just testified right there that his name was not his own.

And, in prayer to the Father, he said, I have manifested thy NAME unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world..”. John 17:6

The writer of Hebrews speaks of the Son: “Being MADE so much better than the angels, as he hath by INHERITANCE obtained a more excellent NAME than they.” Heb. 1:4

The apostles were taught properly, and understood that the command (found in Matt. 28:19) to baptize in the name (singular ‘name’, not ‘names’) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, IS JESUS.

That is the only NAME that can save (Acts 4:12). That is why they ALWAYS baptized in the name of Jesus.

EVERY divine attribute that the Christ displayed, he said was from the Father, and that the Father was in him, and he in the Father. He declared that the Holy Ghost proceeds from the Father. The scriptures clearly point this out.

Yet the devil hates the name of Jesus, and has done a very effective job at blinding people into not being baptized in the only name that can save. But, they that hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled. And to them does the Lord send witness to the truth.
