I think you are right. In their minds, if they get the discipline of celibacy relaxed it’s hard to picture the any lasting stand against any of the other things they really want.

Some folks are thinking it would end up like the Eastern Rites or Orthodox, and that works. But the liberals are thinking it would eventually end up something like the liberal wing Western-Euro Anglicans, that’s their shining standard as to what the Catholic Church should end up being. Some think the danger is that might be exactly what ends up happening.
