I agree with your post - they should allow married men to be priests. I believe that some doctrine says that priests are representations of Christ who was unmarried and celibate. I forget the place in the Bible, but Peter says that teachers/priests should remain celibate, but if they couldn’t manage it, they should marry rather than have sex outside of marriage. He followed up with how it was his own opinion and not part of the Divinely inspired instructions that were also being passed on by the Holy Spirit. Other areas say that a teacher should be a married man in good standing, because if one could not manage his own family, he should not be trying to teach others how to manage their families. I’m not Catholic any more and never got into all the doctrines, but the Bible makes a pretty darn good reference.
The priest does represent Christ, but the Church does not --- for that reason -- rule out married men being ordained. That's not part of the doctrine; though if course Jesus' and Paul's honoring of celibacy does show the excellence of celibacy.
