Our first loyalty is to Our Lord.
And some Catholics claim their church is the Lord. So if Rome counsels American bishops to demand amnesty then what will elected Catholics do? Why they will follow the bishops=Rome instead of the Constitution they swore an oath to defend. One cannot serve two masters, nor can one play the role of Caesar and legislate charity.
